Coles Rewards MasterCard devaluation

What are the chances that I'll get some of my $99 annual fee back since it was only charged to my account 2 May? I'm not getting what I signed up for!
I actually think your chances are quite good if you ask for it and explain that you paid the annual fee on the understanding that the card had a 0% international transaction fee.

Your chances will improve exponentially if, upon refusal, you politely and calmly state that you intend to take up the matter with AFCA.

I can’t imagine a situation where you won’t get your fee back, tbh.

I don't understand the business side of this with NAB, most card holders with Coles and citibank eventually will be shafted and probably look at other bank card offerings. They have spent a bucket load of money to aquire Citibanks card service only to see the current card members move to another bank or amex. I don't see too much points value in any of NABs current cards.

Who else is offering a comparable product (no AF, points earning, no FX fee)?

Pretty much no one. You have no where to go. That's why NAB bought them — to eliminate a competitor.

CBA Smart and Ultimate Awards is no fee if you spend $2000 or $4000 a month.

Was the no annual fee Coles one with no fx? Mine cost $90 a year or something.

Which NAB also now offer in their own rewards cards. That seems to be where the market is moving. It must be profitable for banks to offer no FX if you commit to using it pretty much all the time, not casually like you were able to with the Coles MC.

You're right, it didn't have no fx — only the rewards card. My apologies!

I think I will use my citi prestige while it is still around to get 1.2 kf miles @ 3.4%. No point stressing over a few hundred dollars while on holidays. If you have used points to fly business class you're a mile in front anyway,.

But you'd be the ideal person to open a commbank ultimate. 1kf per $ at 0%, and months when you travel you probably spend enough for no annual fee. You'd likely be up on that overall

CBA has been frustrating for me when it comes to opening a credit card account. They just keep declining me.

I applied for a Smart Awards card for a 10K limit, and they declined my application. I have been banking with them for ages, with all my home and investment loans (> 2m), and I have all my salary and rental income deposited into their account. They asked me for rental income statements, which I provided. My missus and I have plenty of income to cover it. But this is the second time in 3 years that they have declined me.

I don't have any issues with other banks (ANZ, Westpac, NAB, HSBC, etc) for providing credit cards with higher limits (15K). So, given I have recently signed up for the NAB Rewards Signature card, it looks like this will be my new go-to non-churn card from now on.

Don't feel disheartened. I got declined too when I tried it a year or two ago, that's why I got the Coles card.

Ditto with diners. Axed it with no migration path to a NAB product. The whole thing seems like a giant waste of money.
