Hi was wondering if there is a pattern towards QF releasing business redemption (U class) seats at a certain time close to departure?

At the moment, looking at QF25 SYD-HND (17 Oct).

Per expert flyer seems wide open (J9, C9 D9 I9 and PE also open W9 R9 T8), so unlikely to be oversold.

1 pax currently ticketed in U with the other in X, so hopefully able to snag 1 more U flight (funny thing was during booking there seemed to be 2xU, but 1 disappeared after 1 U flight was booked).

In any case, is there a pattern to QF releasing any more U inventory closer to departure given flight loads seem light?

Every flight number/day of week/selling class has a booking curve that will automatically close down or release seats based on days to departure. But this is affected by changes in yield, demand and manual intervention. Flight departures with light loads are more likely to perform in a pattern but it’s not guaranteed.

great so in my case is there a better than even chance that something happens?

Or too hard to say?

This is the classic conundrum of yield management: the balance of releasing a seat for FF points with passengers not paying for a J seat (hence diluting the product a la AA) versus a pax paying for that J seat.
