Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff intends to call a state election tomorrow

Jeremy Rockliff's Liberal government was plunged into minority in May when two MPs defected to the crossbench. After several days of intense speculation, Mr Rockliff says he will ask the governor for an early election.

Tasmania's Premier Jeremy Rockliff will go to the governor tomorrow to request an early election.

It comes after he issued an ultimatum to the two former Liberal backbenchers who quit his party last May, throwing it into minority.
