Family pooling [Book flight for Spouse]

We use family pooling for velocity points and all my points go to my husband. My question is, I want to book a flight for me, flying without my husband. Do we have to do a family transfer to get them back to me, or is there another way to get them back to me so that we aren’t restricted by the four transfers a year. Thanks.

Is there a reason why you want the points back to you? You can only family transfer FFP points and not status points. There is no restriction how many times you family pool your points to your spouse. However there is restrictions on how many times per year you can change the family pooling. (Which l believe you are referring to above)

I am wanting them back to me because I want to book a flight for me, without my spouse flying too. I don’t want all the points, just enough for my flight. I was just wondering if the only way to get these back to me is through a transfer or if there is another way?

Your husband can use his points to book a flight for you.

But wouldn’t he have to be on the same flight? I thought the frequent flyer card name had to match the flyers name? He won’t be on the flight.

With velocity, when you book a reward flight, you can enter any person as the person travelling.(checked and I have done this myself as recently as January)

On a similar note. My wife pools to me. She had booked a flight in her name and then wanted to upgrade. I transferred points to her but they came straight back. I had to suspend family pooling which does not take affect until the next day then transfer points. I then turned family pooling back on.
