FINNAIR - new Business Class AirLounge seat

You mean the middle pairs (reverse herringbone)? Why is that?

I usually go for mid-cabin to avoid disturbance by toilets & galleys. I have 2A booked on an A330 SYD-BKK and 4A booked BKK-HEL and wonder if I should try for 2A or 2L (I can sleep on either side). Any comments on noise, or potential for noise from those who have used the 2s.

I'm beginning to regret booking the AY flights/seats - being a bit less mobile now-a-days and a tossing & turning sleeper.
You would ideally want to be in 1A or 1L. The footwell in those seats is a fair bit larger and you can roll around all you like in your sleep.

This is 2H (centre ailse) on the A330. Definitely better for sleeping on your left side but I could make the right work well too. On the A330 I'd definitely avoid row 1. Toilets and lights around the toilet would annoy me. I'd even consider row 3 in future. Noise wasn't an issue.

@RooFlyer on the A330 one other bit of advice. There's two bathrooms at the front of the cabin and one behind the rear galley on the port side. It's also the Y+ bathroom. It's also the largest one on the aircraft and has a nice view.

By far the best option for getting changed, but even the smaller ones at the front of the J cabin and larger than the tiny ones QF pass off

Thanks @MH_fan, @Princess Fiona , @Captain Halliday (have already browsed your TR again 😊) and @Daver6.

My A330 flight SYD-BKK is a daytime flight, which is why I selected 2A (without appreciating the footwell issue of other rows) & not that worried about proximity to toilets. Overnight at BKK, then A359 overnight to HEL, currently in 4A. Its a toss up for me - narrower footwell in 4A and less disturbance Vs close to toilets and galleys in 2A/L, but better foot space. I guess earplugs and sleeping facing window would counter much of the 2A/L disturbance - I might chance my hand and try to change.

What would the 'P' for Premium mean for all the unallocated seats?

I'd definitely go with 2A/2L on their A350 and 1A/1L on their A330. I'm a good sleeper, so any noise or light from the galley doesn't wake me up. My only criticism of the seat is the seatbelt positions when you're lying flat. They literally strap you in so it's quite uncomfortable. I don't have them on when I'm sleeping.

Get yourself a decent quality thick silk eye mask in a dark color. Absolute game changer for light pollution, they block out everything.

Yes, I had seen your tip on that before. Where would I look at one, please?

I can't wear the normal ones - don't like the pressure on the strap. I am a very, very light sleeper ....

I also thought the beds were quite long. Longer than say the QF J seats easily. When you're sleep on your side and your knees a little bent, the narrow footwell was a non-issue for me. I'm 178cm.

I'm a good sleeper and don't even need eye shades or ear plugs! Do you take any sleeping tablets to help you sleep on the flight?

I always travel with melatonin and temazepam. If I'm not comfortable, they won't do much good; at best I'll get a few hours of broken sleep. I'm used to being completely wiped out after a long haul and routinely keep the first 2 days after arriving low key, to recover.

I've asked my GP for something stronger for sleep, but he refuses!!

You need zolpidem or zopiclone, my friend! I use zolpidem when I want to get at least 6 hours of solid sleep. I used it on my last flight and ended up sleeping 7-8 hours on the 13-hour flight and I was not jet-lagged at all! I agree that being comfortable is important. Worst J seat I've experienced is the JL SkySuite III on their B787-9s.

I recently flew BKK-HEL and HEL-SIN in 2L on A350, very little disturbance from galley, it is relatively not that close to the galley and not a lot of bother with loo traffic.

I used to use the Slip lashes one but recently upgraded to this Deep Sleep Mask . It’s absolutely worth the money.

Got 2L on one of my AY A350 long haul flights, BKK-HEL. Still 3A on HEL-MIA and 2A on SYD-BKK (A330). I'll be able to give a comparative review!
Didn't know they flew to Miami USA.

Flying CPH-HEL-BKK in J later this month. Just love the huge seats (and the service from the Finnish flight attendants).
