I'm in the VA Lounge thread

BNE lounge at 0515 is a bit busy - pupil-free day here in QLD for some strange reason, so unofficial long weekend for some 😑
Coffee line gets a bit long as they take orders in runs then are making accordingly. No one using the automatic machine that's on the back beverage counter though - the sign advertising it is an A4 piece of paper on the stand up clipboard.
Scrambled eggs and potato croquettes on offer this morning.

I used the automatic machine when I was in the BNE lounge a few weeks ago. It was mid-morning, but the queue for coffee just never seemed to end. Orders being taken in runs as you mention, but every time I looked there seemed to be at least 8-10 in the queue.

It's been like that the last few times I've been in BNE in the AM... I'm guessing that's what works for them....unfortunately a fair few peeved punters who quit the queue though 😑

Based on my previous experience of the barista made coffee ( not good) I wasn’t willing to queue for it and figured that the machine couldn’t be much worse 😉

I've found that the barista made coffee is reasonably good without being outstanding...admittedly full cream milk can cover a multitude of sins! Mrs Hawk has almond milk and unfortunately her experience is a bit less consistent than mine 🤷‍♂️

Was stuck in ADL due to a flight cancellation then a flight delay last night. Was travelling with a colleague who was flying QF. Was easy to get him into the Lounge as my guest by pressing the '1'. Later after we'd exhausted the beer and food options we walked up to the QP where he scanned in at the desk and they asked for my QF or JQ boarding pass! The nerve. I hadn't been in for years - am LTS but don't fly enough to fly both airlines these days. Was never an issue in the past but QF has clamped down on us freeloaders. We went back to the VA lounge then.

In SYD until VA965 departs (1700 delayes to 1845 at this stage), can guest 2.
Lunch is still on offer - penne pasta with tomato sugo, chicken & corn soup, or periperi chicken sandwiches.
Pretty quiet and a nice view out onto the tarmac as always 😎

Hot breakfast in CBR this morning. Not sure if this is new or the usual? I’m here on some Monday mornings and usually we just get ham and cheese croissants

There's hot dogs in the Melbourne lounge at the moment; never saw that before

Edit: looks like all lounges were serving them going by the VFF Facebook group I'm in; guess due to the footy finals

Quick one - the VA Premium Entry to SYD T2 and the VA Lounge says it's still 5AM to 8AM... no changes or update to that coming, that we know of? Have a flight early November at 9:30AM and deciding whether to get there earlier and use that entry, or take my chances in the zoo a little later. There's also a less used security point on the arrivals level, IIRC?

If I remember correctly, a few years ago(pre-COVID) VA was trailing spirits within the lounge. Is there any update on an improved menu or added drinks that anyone has heard about?

Melbourne lounge has potato croquettes and the usual suspects. Also just a lot of attitude from staff. I asked for a strong coffee and got an eye roll when I flagged I received a regular coffee… for a second I thought I stepped into the QF lounge

BNE lounge this morning had scrambled eggs and a corn-based jumble (the word escapes me at the moment) on offer. Coffee bar was being run by 2 and (as usual) had a queue of ~10 deep, so used the automatic machine for that instead.
