Original flight was booked for Sydney to Melbourne departing Thursday 9 a.m. in Business Class, taking advantage of their $299 flights and bonus SC.

Six hours before I was due to fly out, my flight was cancelled and became a Sydney-Brisbane flight departing at 2 p.m., and Brisbane-Melbourne departing at 6:55 p.m. (so I never got to go to any Comedy Festival shows I had bought tickets to for the night). Both legs were in Business Class.

I flew back home to Sydney (not via Brisbane thankfully) yesterday afternoon in Business Class, and my points and SC have already been credited, but not the ones from Thursday.

I've already tried to ask Virgin via Facebook whether I'd still be getting the original SC, but being the weekend, not expecting a response any time soon; thus, my question to the experts here is: will I be getting the missing points and SC for my Thursday flight? Or should I just be grateful I scored two Business Class flights for the price of one? I know it won't be 160 SC; I just want my original 80 SC as I would have been Silver by now if it wasn't for Thursday's kerfuffle and was aiming for Gold by end of May ...

Assuming your Velocity frequent flyer number was attached to the 2 new flights, you should get points and credits for both.
Yep, can confirm it was attached to both flights (both on itinerary and Virgin app). Just no sign of points and SC for Sydney-Brisbane and Brisbane-Melbourne, unlike yesterday's Melbourne-Sydney flight

@kerfuffle , as @kpc indicated you should get credit for both MEL-BNE and BNE-SYD - currently that's 115 and ~80 SC's.

Hopefully you have kept copies of your MEL-BNE and BNE-SYD boarding passes.

I do have them in Google Pay from when I screenshot the boarding passes from the Virgin app! Should I wait the 'up to six weeks' before submitting a missing points claim or do it ASAP?

Thanks @AIRwin for the missing points link!

Edit: I have the actual boarding passes from the Virgin app as I need to screenshot each one in order to save them to Google Pay, as the Save to Phone option hasn't worked for ages now. Remembered they were still in my bin folder on Google Photos and promptly restored them

Wouldn’t bother submitting just yet. There is no rule that points have to appear ASAP and it can take a few days or even a week to show up. You will get credits and eligible flights counted for both legs

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

OK I guess I'll wait until after Easter then before submitting. :) Just a tad concerned since these uncredited flights were from Thursday, but yesterday's flights have already been credited. This year is the first time I can actually attempt to move from Red this year upwards haha

When we had a CNS-SYD changed to CNS-BNE and BNE-SYD following day due to weather, we received the actual flown SCs automatically. This was a few years back so cant remember the time frame, I'm afraid

You can now submit your emailed ticket - rather than your boarding pass - when claiming missing points. I guess many people don’t keep their electronic boarding passes nowadays. When my flight was cancelled last year and they booked me onto two new flights, the points didn’t land. Eventually I sent through my emailed ticket for the flights I actually flew and they gave me the increased status credits for the new flights rather than the ones I booked. The points claim portal won’t let you put in a claim before the minimum time has elapsed.

[edit: I meant status credits not points. Have updated]

Ooh that's handy to know, thanks! It seems they only want you to submit 14 days after flying, going by the link provided earlier. (Still no points and SC)

I've noticed that when there's routing changes it takes longer to post automatically. It seems to take 1 weekish from my recent experience.

You dont get any extra points (as it's based on the price paid). You get the extra SC's and eligible sectors.

But don't original routing points/SC's apply? OP didn't purchase a new ticket.
Points are based on how much you paid for the ticket.
