Qantas Health Insurance - what are the thoughts of those that have it?

Another point to consider if you are in a position, is paying a year in front at old rates @Pushka
Yes that's always a good thing to do but not this year. I'd still be better off changing funds even in that scenario. It's not the rise so much but the base price is in excess of other funds. I'm glad they sent the email re price hikes, it made me do some searching and to my benefit.

I would be wary of comparing what you see on line which might be the old price with your soon to be increased premium.

On BUPA. Theres a toggle to select for April 1st. And in store the consultant said he'd use April 1 and not current.

I switched from Bupa to Qantas a couple of years ago.
Another reduction in coverage on orthodontics and I cracked it. So I shopped around. Qantas worked out better. Maybe it is time to do another shop around!

I did exactly the same. In April 2018 when they started messing with joint replacements. I’ve been with Qantas since.

I’ve had Qantas extras health insurance for a couple of years and I’m pretty happy with it. Get 65% back on most claims. Previous health insurance (AHM) would give me back $30 for a $100 remedial massage which was a joke.
Also very easy to submit claims via the App and track claim limits.

Got to be said though, you burn through the annual limits really fast!! :/

It's a shame that the limits don't increase in proportion to the payout %

I was having a similar conversation with my Chiro today. The insurance fees go up year on year but the Extras limits don’t. Bracket Creep is not only the playground of the Dept of Finance and Governments…

And then they "Argue" price rises because of increase costs/claims?!? Doesn't hold water as far as Extras cover goes (Hospital, maybe*)

Minimum payments to surgeons, anaesthetists etc. are apparently tied to the Medicare schedule fees, so it would be irrelevant the rate of their increases, only the MBS

Not just qantas… all airlines… bugs me that it’s ’up to’ 150k points. That’s like family of four, top gold, and top extras. How many fit in that category?

Why not say earn ‘from’ 20k points, which is a single, on bronze, no extras? Wastes time going in to these offers to find you might get a fraction of the headline figure.
