Hi! Newbie to this forum, and to flying halfway across the word!
I will be flying business to London later this year. It arrives quite early in the morning, and I won't be able to check in to any accommodation until the afternoon. I have a few questions (they may be silly, so please be kind!!)
I read you can access the qantas lounge when arriving as well, and that you can get a bite to eat and freshen up in a shower. I'm guessing you access the lounge after you have picked up your suitcase and cleared customs.
Is the lounge easy to find after clearing customs?
What do you do with your suitcase in the lounge (do they allow you to bring it in?)
Thank you all very much!

Hi there,
Unfortunately you cannot access the Qantas lounge or indeed any lounge on arrival at London.

American Airlines has an arrivals lounge for their passengers at Terminal 3 and British Airways at Termlnal 5 but neither of these can be used by QF passengers.

EDIT: And welcome to AFF !!

You can always try your hotel for an early check-in, but you would probably not get in in any event until after 1000 after the cleaners have started their rounds…

Apart from paying for the hotel for the night before arrival AND advising of your arrival time so they dont give away your room, its a problem we all have. Most hotels will text you when the room is ready usually after lunch but.
I have had 50/50 success with going to the hotel early re check in...
But at least they should store your bags so you can explore without luggage.
If you dont have your transport sorted I would avoid the tube at peak hour with bags, sit in the Terminal and use the free wifi, have a snooze and go after rush hour with bags. If using HEX there is more space for luggage so it doesnt matter as much.
Even if you are tired you can still sit in a park or cafe if the weather is good or go to a Museum/Art Gallery if it is raining. I've even had a quick power nap in some quieter churches.
You should try to get on London time ASAP anyway...easier to say than do.
You wont be the only zombie wandering around London unable to check in.

Is that because they deem QF pax to be ineligible, or some other reason? Many years since I did it, but I think Qantas lands at T3??

QF didn’t renew their contract with AA in early 2020 with the reason given that most pax didn’t use it and instead just took their chauffeur drive into the city.

Then of course they cut the chauffeur service but haven’t seen fit to reinstate the lounge access 🤔
It’s something they absolutely should offer QF1 J/F pax.

Considering QF doesn't have an arrivals lounge at SYD seems silly they would pay for it at LHR (I'm arguing it should be at both, not neither, but if only one, it should be in SYD). I've actually never flown QF to LHR, usually on BA so definitely a fan of the arrivals lounge.

I would go straight to your hotel and get them to store your bags which any half decent hotel will do for free. If it's out of the way there is a place at Paddington Station that will do it but you have to pay.
