Hi Guys! After hours of research I found this forum and am very stoked about it. Wondered if anyone can help. I got quite some amex reward points which I want to transfer into Qatar Airways Avios. Then transfer them into BA account to finally boost them x3. Would that work or would BA see them as Qatar Avios (as of my understanding partner airline points are uneligible to be boosted?) and not as amex reward points?

Thank you!

Cheers

What is this boost you're referring to?

I assume this is the BA Avios Boost. Anyway, the answer is no.
5. Not all transactions are eligible for boosting. Exclusions are balance transfers from other airlines, Nectar exchanges, Avios transferred or gifted by other members and previously bought Avios.
I assume this would work only if you transferred directly from Amex into BA.

I found a Boost option in my QR app today.I can apparently boost 5100 points by up to x6 (x6 would cost $871 AUD). Not sure if it is new thing but I have just noticed it.

Is that same as what BA do?

Conventional wisdom in UK is that an Avios is worth at least GBP0.01 (when redeemed for flights) so it seems worthy of consideration

This is a good explanation of the BA version

And the Qatar info

So I'm looking to boost my QR avios from an Amex transfer I did a week ago but it doesn't seem to be working for me. When I click the `Boost Avios Now' button at: https://www.qatarairways.com/en/Privilege-Club/buy-gift-transfer.html

It just redirects me to here: https://www.qatarairways.com/en/Pri...oardqrpcuser/my-services/my-services-bgt.html

Can anyone confirm that it does actually work for them? Any general tips would be much appreciated, too - I've already tried clearing cookies, incognito window, and different browser. My best guess is that Amex transfers aren't allowed here, but it does seem to say that points from credit cards are allowed, and I know you can boost Amex transfers with BA. Alternatively it may just be a new feature that they haven't quite ironed out yet.

Can anyone also confirm the GBP/avios rate? Is it the same as BA?

Thanks!

Yes amex MR transfers can be boosted,.that's what mine were. I clicked the button in the QR app ... Boost button was half hidden and took a while to load but did work for me.

I didn’t know I could boost AmEx points to Avios. Can’t find the link on the app. 😕

When you say "the button in the QR app" do you mean profile > avios > Buy, gift or transfer avios > Boost your Avios > [This loads the webpage as linked previously but the `Boost Avios Now' button which is supposed to be there doesn't appear for me]?

Any guidance on finding this button would be appreciated. Are you on android/iphone/other?

I realised I actually have genuine `earned' avios from 3 weeks ago so it's defo not a problem with Amex transfers, as you say.

@dsotm - For countries where Amex allow transfers direct to BA this has been possible since June last year when transferring directly to BA. I think (hopefully) Qatar are now introducing their own version. With any luck they may also do an inauguration offer like BA did (10% bonus on boosted avios for the first 2 months post release), which was I think the cheapest avios have ever been - 0.84p/avios (1.6c/avios in AUD).

I'm on android. The button in the QR app is sort of hidden for me, like an "Easter egg" . Doubt this is intentional though!
Go to your "Profile" >
then click on "Avios" >
"Manage Your Avios" page loads >
Scroll down, it seems to refresh (slowly)>
the "Boost" tile appears, underneath "FAQs">
see screenshots of where the actual Boost button is ... (Just under the text that says "terms and conditions")

Thanks!

This tile doesn't appear for me no matter how long I wait, unfortunately :(

A few possibilities:
- I'm on iPhone (I also tried that page on a computer browser and that button doesn't appear)
- I have my QR and BA accounts linked so where your button appears I have a section on unlinking accounts
- Could be geographical e.g. only appear for IP addresses in certain countries (I did also try using a foreign VPN tho)

I'll wait a while to see if they fix this since I'm in no rush. If not I'll go to QR customer service.

Thanks a lot for your help!

T&Cs say:
"Members can Buy or Accelerate up to 250,000 Avios per calendar year.
A maximum price of 35USD for every block of 1,000 Avios will apply to every Buy or Accelerate transaction.
The price depends on the number of Avios bought or purchased in a transaction."
