Currently in LHR T3. Wheels down on arriving flight T5 6.20, champagne to lips in dining room in T3, 6.48. Anyone got other examples of when the stars aligned during a transfer?

T6 at LAX. Arrived from SYD over an hour late, made it through immigration, customs, upstairs, through security and over to T7 in 25 minutes.

MEL-ASP then ASP-MEL with a 40 minute turnaround. You might think, "Easy." But I had to claim my bag and re-check it in, which had to be done within the 30 minute bag drop deadline. Essentially, had to claim my bag and make the check in line within 10 minutes.

Bags finally came out on the belt about 8 minutes after touchdown. Luckily my bag was within the first few. Made the bag drop deadline with literally seconds to spare.

how come? Sounds like a status run to me, so why the checked luggage?

Not quite a "transfer" but I have disembarked, cleared immigration, collected luggage and caught a taxi home (about 20 mins ride) in 30 mins of wheels down. At SIN.

HKG-TPE-HKG turnaround in 20mins (walk off 1 flight then onto another), had to get them to transfer me to the earlier flight which took some doing but being CX J they came through in the end.

(also involved a bit of a sprint and the terminal train as came in on KA and flew out on CX when they were in different terminals!)

I would say 2 min! QF94 was held at the gate for a few delayed QF108 pax. I was seated in 3K and 2 min later I was drinking champagne in 12E...

Walked off the SYD-MEL flight and straight to the next gate to board the MEL-HBA flight that was waiting, so a couple of minutes.
Have also walked off the plane in MEL arriving from NAN and been out on the foot path within approx. 15 minutes both times.

Also my question

It was a status run; you can read about it here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....dacious-australian-asian-adventure-18744.html

The day in question when this happened starts [post=254122]here (click this)[/post].

I was still a fairly new elite in those days. I've had very little misfortunes in my travel experiences, but if I had my time again, I would have strategised that day a whole lot better. (I was also a much healthier person in those days! :( )

Discounting that particular incident, my tightest connections have not been exciting - more regional domestic status runs or status runs on the old domestic Jetconnect, where you could have tight 25 minute connections. Sometimes you had some international connections scheduled for 50-70 minutes which became slightly more hairy due to delays, but they feel very textbook after you've been through them, or when the next flight ends up being delayed anyway!

Had a few incidents where I've had to run for the gate from the lounge. My tightest is probably going from the CX Wing F to one of the gates at the end of one of the piers at HKG; I left the lounge at T-30 minutes to scheduled departure. Met the CX lady walking back to the pier "neck" with the Final Call notice, and another CX agent walking back from the gate catching the last pax like me and radioing to the gate that I was coming.

Way back in 1984.On an AA flight BOS-LAX connecting to QF to SYD.AA flight was delayed,QF flight was held.Allowed off first.Ground agent said run and another agent will meet you at the QF terminal and take you to the gate.less than 10 minutes. We literally walked on to the plane and sat down-they had moved us to the bulk head seats. As soon as we got on the doors closed. And surprisingly our luggage also made it.

I seem to have incredible luck with this... But twice (once in 2013, once in 2012) I have landed, got luggage, passed immigration and been in a taxi at LHR within 30 minutes. Once 22 minutes, once 25 minutes - I timed and couldn't believe it considering what I'd been warned.

Once was arriving on VS201, once on QF9. Both times without express/fast-track.

Mine is not the quickest transfer but involves multiple connections on separate bookings with little margin for delays:
MEL-BNE-SIN on the same booking on QF arriving 16:05
then departing SIN at 18:00 on 3K arriving KUL at 19:10
then KUL-AUH on EY departing 20:25

Flight to SIN pushed back on time but returned to gate in BNE due to problem with door, resulting in delayed arrival at SIN.

Second in line at the 3K transfer desk in SIN with the guy ahead taking some time. I requested for a seat in the first few rows so I can make a quick exit upon arrival at KUL and was allocated 2B. But they couldn't check me in for my onwards flight on EY from KUL.

I still managed to visit the QF lounge in SIN as simonpenny408's guest (thanks mate!) although I spent all of my limited time there trying to check-in online for my EY flight without success as they needed to verify my credit card physically. In the end I didn't get to check out the new lounge before I had to board. It was a full flight and the gate staff tried to stop me from boarding with my wheelie twice - once when scanning my boarding pass and I explained I had a tight connection. Then again as I was about to walk onto the aerobridge but I ignored this other staff. I had made sure I was one of the first to board so managed to store the wheelie in the overhead compartment. The same staff then came onboard and I explained my situation to her so she had to let it be.

Flight landed in KUL early and I finally made through the final hurdle of the credit card verification at the transfer desk. In fact, I even got an op up at the boarding gate!
