This seems to have not been picked up yet by the news services:

About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases - QantasLink Boosts Capacity for Regional NSW

Key points of interest:

Q400s to Wagga adding 500 seats each week, 5 extra return flights to Coffs using the Q400, and using the redeployed Q300s to add 5 extra return flights to Port Macquarie, Tamworth and Armidale.

Rex did not last long on the MKY-TSV leg which is a shame given the price drop the route expereinced while they were flying which resulted in pax numbers growing significantly on the route in the latest movements announcement earlier this week. That extra competition put more bums on seats and less on the roads, lets hope the changes in NSW dont force REX to drop more routes, if you were ever unsure of the effect of competition on a route have a look at the difference between ROK-BNE and GLT-BNE on any given day.

lets hope the changes in NSW force REX to drop more routes, .

Whilst I agree with the rest of your post (more QLink services is a good thing and will be route-stimulating), why do you want rex to drop routes?

If there's no competition, just wait for prices to go back up.
