The view from my "office"

The Katong area is famous for Peranakan food and culture.
Ok I am completely out of date with Singapore. We walked the nearby food strip and the main choices were pizza, pubs with beer and burgers, Korean food and sushi. It has become very yuppiefied.I guess due to all the expensive condos around here.

One Peranakan restaurant - very quiet. One or two bakeries selling Nonya cakes

Plus the (Australian) Mexican Guzman y Gomez.

In Singapore.Katong from the Village Hotel. A sort of car park view. The Condos in the area have just about doubled in the 5 or 6 years since our last stay.

The rooms are a bit old fashioned but still comfortable. And they are huge by Singapore standards - with a balcony.

Agree, loved the space and balcony, not bad for a hotel that is 40+ years old @OZDUCK
We stayed in a Peranakan Club room and could not fault the staff and amenities in 2019 - it was very reasonably priced then.

My home office views ( the iPhone exaggerates the colours but clear pinks and green shimmering curtains visible from the East Coast of Tas)

I got in the car and moved to what should’ve been a better position but the show was fading around midnight and cloud gathering in the southern sky diminished the effects.

I spoke too soon. I drove home and went up to bed and poked my head outside just to make sure it finished and wow, it had not.

The entire sky - 360 degrees - had fast moving tendrils of light shimmering all over the place.

The first pic here is looking straight up. The blur compared to the other photos is not due to camera shake, it’s the stuff moving in the sky.

Some more views from Tas; again colours much enhanced over what is seen by the naked eye. Hat-tip to @RSVKanga alerting us to the web site (never come across it before).

How fortunate you were to be able to see this beautiful phenomenon. A pity the published photos are so colour enhanced, although the aurora was still fabulous!

Not my photo but taken and shared on Facebook & the ABC by Adam Dederer, Port Macquarie Tacking Point Lighhouse last night. I couldn't see anything with the naked eye where I was
