The view from my "office"

While having an early morning coffee at our Lyon office Mrs jxv asked how long our flight to AMS would take. I checked on the KLM website and found that it was 1h35, but also found it had been rescheduled two hours earlier! I never received any notification. So we had a quick bite to eat, threw our stuff in the suitcases, checked out, caught the tram, transferred to the light rail and arrived at LYS with time to spare. Phew!

Waiting for our carriage to arrive.

Off to GYD via VIE, did a whistle-stop tour of all open LHR T2 *A lounges (SQ has renovation works). Did a 30 second turnaround into Plaza Premium on my AMEX Plat so I earn some SmartTraveller points too. If flying J and holding an AMEX Plat it gets you access to LH SEN lounge rather than just the J.

The eggs were best in AC J. UA J had yummy cinnamon donuts. PP was too busy so I just collected the points. LH J had better eggs than LH SEN! They're part of the same complex! LH had mustard to go with the snaggers. Yum.

Somehow I've done more *A travel this year so have qualified both TK Gold (initially via a status match but now by BIS) and BA Gold.

A cheeky visitor on arrival too.

Torbreck winery tasting. Supposedly $20 for 5 tastes but we had 10 and he said don't worry if you don't buy anything but we did.

Grenache was excellent and I liked the 2023 Cuvee

a 2019 bottle of the Laird Shiraz was $850 - I sure wouldn't want to be responsible for carrying this bottle

My not feeling so hopeful office earlier this morning, Tbilisi.

But then it all sorted itself out and made it to Baku, Azerbaijan. Those keen eyed amongst you might spot a bit of the F1 track markings still showing.

Looking at the photos can't believe this place exist in real life (the cityscape picture looks like an advanced first world city minus the old buildings in the background but the rest of the pictures look like they belong in the Soviet era)

Thanks for the pics. I was all booked to fly there (amongst a heap of other places in that region in 2020.)

Well, we all know how that came to a juddering halt...

That's now gone; I've moved on.

C'est la vie.

After seeing the photos posted by @VPS a couple of weeks ago, I headed down to Deanā€™s Village today. Supposedly a 30 minute walk from my hotel, I meandered a longer way through parks and side streets. I really enjoyed the scenery along the way, as well as Deanā€™s Village itself. Total walking (and standing to photograph) time 2.25 hours. 12,041 steps, 7.03km. It is a beautiful, sunny afternoon, all of 15 degrees.
