Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

I don't know why, but in the last few days Tigerair's Australian domestic flights have been pretty punctual - at least the sample that I have observed.

However this is not true of Monday 29 December 2014's TT259, the 1610 from SYD to MEL that took off at 1808 and is expected to arrive MEL at 1924, 99 minutes late. There are however no more delays shown ex MEL as there are only two more TT flights to depart after the arrival of TT259, with a flight to SYD not due out until 2100, typically the latest that JQ, QF, TT or QF schedule northbound MEL - SYD flights due to the ever present 2300 hours curfew.

There was a heavy storm approaching SYD late this afternoon.

Buzzard, I have flown TT (and TR), but neither for more than a year.

However I agree with your implied suggestion. Juding by the comments, a higher percentage of AFF members use QF than that airline's market share, whether domestically or internationally.

Judging by the comments, almost nobody on this website uses TT regularly, and few use it occasionally, or else they never discuss it.
 
TT'518, the 0935 from MEL to BNE (VH-VNC) was hugely delayed (presumably it or another aircraft failed) and is about to land in BNE at about 1605, four and a quarter hours late. It appears to be forming TT529, the 1510 to MEL that may with a bit of luck push back at about 1650.
 
In what must have been an unpleasant experience for passengers in the 'small hours', TT758 (A320 VH-VNJ), the 0200 hours from PER to SYD did not take off until 0400 WST and is therefore only about to land in SYD at about 0955, roughly an hour and 40 minutes behind schedule.
 
While JB, CEO of VA and TT is rightly able to boast that TT is now significantly (on average) more punctual than JQ, this does not mean that some flights are not significantly late.

An example on Tuesday 11 August 2015 is TT243 (A320 VH-VNC) that should have departed SYD at 1315 but took off this afternoon at 1527, with arrival in MEL in a few minutes at about 1645, an hour and 55 minutes late. AS Tt has a pretty sparse number of departures today from MEL, it does not appear that any north or westbound flights ex 'The city with the Paris end' will be adversely affected.
 
While few AFFers appear to patronise TT, this afternoon that is just as well because TT587 from CNS to MEL is three and three quarter hours late and arriving at 1905 instead of 1520, while TT529 from BNE to MEL is arriving at 2025 instead of 1735.

As a result Tt264 from MEL to SYD has been delayed departing from 1820 to 1935.

TT's small Australian-based fleet almost guarantees that if an inbound aircraft is badly late, a matching departure will be similarly late.

They are optional to read, just as I never read the thread about priority boarding because I find the idea pretentious - but I respect that others may believe it is a valid subject to discuss.

You will note that I do not post every delay for every airline, as that would be impossible. The more severe delays, however, may affect AFF members or viewers and hence to them, even if not you, may be interesting or newsworthy.

Thats because AFFers fly QF 1000x more regularly than TT, PR, CZ and the other obscure airlines you have started threads for. Im not the first person that has suggested the threads be merged.
 
Possibly due to ATC requirements (but strangely on a Saturday afternoon which unless there are large numbers of sports followers travelling is normally one of the quieter periods for domestic air travel), TT258 and TT264, the 1720 and 1820 hours departures from MEL to SYD are showing at Melbourne Airport - Flight Information, Shopping & Parking as having been altered to depart one minute later on Saturday 12 September 2015.

Reminds one of what USA airports more often do.
 
Given it is school holidays (though not for those studying VCE, HSC or equivalent - for them it's 'crunch' hit the books time), TT572 (VH-VNF) en route from MEL to OOL may well have a few 15 or 16 year old not so little 'darlings' on board. Unfortunately for them it is running badly late and not due in the Gold Coast until 2202 hours tonight (Tuesday 22 September), 97 minutes late. With a quick look I could not establish that an inbound flight to MEL earlier this evening had been behind time.
 
TT421, the 2145 hours from MEL to PER did not take off until 2258 hours this evening (Thursday 22 October 2015.)

There was much late running at MEL tonight, not just by TT.
 
Tigerair's CEO recently boasted of this VA subsidiary's improved punctuality but with today's (5 November) storms earlier in MEL, that is certainly not true today.

Along with competitor JQ, TT seems to have the worst delays. TT559 was meant to arrive in MEL at 1530 hours this afternoon but is showing more than four hours late at 1932 (which was 10 minutes ago.)

TT505, the 1600 hours from MEL to HBA is only boarding now with take off expected at 2000, four hours late. Earlier, TT413, the 1505 from MEL to PER took off at 1828.

TT504, the 1905 hours arrival from ADL is expected in MEL at 2230 tonight. TT472, the 2035 hours arrival from ADL in MEL has been cancelled.
 
TT is experiencing quite a deal of late running today due to inclement east coast weather (such as in MEL.) The Friday 6 November TT253 should depart SYD for MEL at 1515 but took off at 1750 with arrival retimed to 1707 not 1650.

The following TT263 should depart from SYD for MEL at 1725 but at 1817 is on runway 34R queued, with arrival likely around the 1930 hours mark, about 40 minutes late.
 
While TT520 is expected to be delayed this morning (Monday 9 November 2015) in departing MEL from 1035 to 1141 for BNE (note the exact time of the latter, not rounded to five minutes), there is no obvious cause as no arrival is displaying as particularly late.
 
In what has been a poor Friday for domestic airline timekeeping despite benign weather, with JQ the worst performer by far, TT472, the 1845 from ADL to MEL did not take off until 2057 and will be in the Victorian capital at 2228 instead of 2035 tonight. It is operated by A320 VH-VNH.
 
TT once again beat JQ in October 2015 punctuality statistics but the message did not transmit to TT511 (VH-VNF), the 0640 hours from BNE to MEL that on Friday 20 November did not take off until 0733 and hence is about to arrive in MEL some 32 minutes late at 1037.

On the same Friday, TT530, the 1550 hours from MEL to BNE took off at 1821 with suggested arrival being 108 minutes late at 1853 Queensland time (1953 AEDT.)

A Sunday morning in November is not the busiest weekly time for domestic airlines but that does not mean that cancelled flights do not affect anyone.

On Sunday 22 November, TT511 from BNE to MEL is expected to be 135 minutes late arriving in MEL at 1220. Later today, TT557, the 1505 arrval in MEL ex OOL and TT533, the 2105 hours late evening arrival ex BNE have been cancelled, as has TT566, the 1010 this morning MEL to OOL and the 1550 hours to BNE mid afternoon, TT530.

UPDATE: TT520, the 1035 from MEL to BNE has just been added to the cancellations list.

What happens to all these passengers? Does VA place some or all on its flights (assuming that there are spare seats?)
