So now it's [-]7.5[/-] 0.75c per point. Hoi polloi.... :o

Looks to be better value (compared to the normal 100% promo) compared with USDM?

The normal price for Lifemiles is USD30 for 1000 = 3c each

This sharing bonus promo is USD15 for 2000 (1000 shared + 1000 bonus) = 0.75c each! :o

It doesn't say what the maximum bonus is, but you're also allowed to transfer up to 75,000 points, so presumably up to 75,000 bonus instead of 50,000 for USDM.

Depends on your itinerary.

USDM has more generous routing rules and can manage mixed class itineraries (almost essential if you want to fly F).

I seem to recall LifeMiles has an annual maximum in buying points etc. of 150,000 per year.

I think you'll find it's 1.5c/pt. You must already have the miles you're transferring so can't consider them part of the calculation. You pay 15 dollars per thousand which by removal of decimal places would out to the figure above.

My maths shows that if you transfer 1,000 points, an extra 1,000 will be transferred for $15, so 1.5c ea.

Indeed you are right. I got a bit excited and logic failed me - of course the initial 1,000 points are not part of the deal paid for with the $15 fee.

EDIT: Tried to edit the previous post but accidentally clicked delete... not having a good night tonight.

Well go and transfer some points to make up for it! ;)

Thanks to the OP for the info.

Can someone tell me what the tax payable is on purchases/transfers. please? The site is not working for me atm.
Many thanks.

There is no tax unless you are resident in certain South American countries.

So if I buy 75000 @ 0.03 into account #1 and then transfer 75000 @ 0.015 to account #2 then account #2 has 150k miles at an average cost of 0.0225/mile.
So halfway between the 100% promo of August and the normal price...

That would be the wrong way to take advantage of this promo.

Well yes, but you only need to buy 1000 at the .03 price then transfer back and forwards at the .015 price, if you do this way average price much closer to .015. And of course if you have some points already its all at .015 price.

Correct.
I wonder how long points take to be transferred between accounts though ?
Has anyone tried and can report back ?

Just to do the sums.

Buy 1000 @ 0.03 ($30)
Transfer 1000 @ 0.015 ($15), total = 2000 (acct #2)
Transfer 2000 @ 0.015 ($30), total = 4000 (acct #1)
Transfer 4000 @ 0.015 ($60), total = 8000 (acct #2)
Transfer 8000 @ 0.015 ($120), total = 16000 (acct #1)
Transfer 32000 @ 0.015 ($480), total = 64000 (acct #2)
Transfer 64000 @ 0.015 ($960), total = 132000 (acct #1)

Account #1 has now transferred (1000+4000+32000) 37000 in total and has a current balance of 132000.
Account #2 has transferred (2000+8000+64000) 74000 in total and has a current balance of 0.

So now from account #1 you transfer 38000 @ 0.015 ($570) giving account #2 a balance of 76000.

So account #1 now has 132000.
And account #2 has 76000.

Total of 208000 miles at a cost of $2265 which means a cost of 0.010889/mile which means I've clearly done something wrong should be closer to 0.015.
