Just wondering if anyone has received their bonus for this period as i would like to clarify ambiguity.

1. 10pt/$ over 350 or the entire amount once it crosses $350?
2. Must be bookd in australia..... would me booking via that link, sitting at a computer in australia, for 2 weeks of hotels in the US count?

Thanks for your input.

I haven't booked during the current period but have in the past...

You have to use the special address and not any other Hotelclub site - this is the 'Australia' part. You can book hotels in any country that they offer on that specific bonus points site.

You get ten points (plus your normal points) for every dollar of the transaction - it just has to be a spend of $350 or more.

In my experience points take a long time to post, and they're not telling porkies when they say eight weeks...

Thanks m8, mine previous posted at about the 6 weeks mark. But i guess not particularly worried about it being paid properly or not as previous 3 x had always been good. I am just worried about interpretation of the "rules". Might start some bookings although not sure what the deals will be after march, perhaps will change back to the previous deal?

Are the 10 bonus points only applicable on bookings made that are paid in full at the time of booking? Eg if one were to book a hotel stay for September that had no deposit and the card wasn't charged until check-in, would points be earned?

I see everyone posting having success booking. I would love to but when I go through the process for 2 hotels on different times of the year (July for Malaysia and September for Lady Elliot Is.) I get a lack of availability message. I know these hotels have availability so maybe I am plain unlucky. lol. I'd love to get the bonus.

To get points you must be charged at the time. 98% sure its in the T and Cs. 2% loss is due to me forgetting to buy milk today so memory is probably not so good.

My experience is that when you book too far in advance it doesn't work. Not sure if anyone else had that problem.

Also intermittently, it shows and doesn't show. No idea why. I just use a different browser and it works.

Well on the bonus rewards website it says the promotion end at the 31 March, but the Terms and Condition page on the hotel reward website says it goes to December 31 (Hotels)

Is amex likely to follow the December 31 from the T+C's or the March 31 from their website??

For those who have booked and successfully received the bonus points, does it matter which link is used from the AMEX bonus partners page to make the booking? There is the hotelclub.com/amex booking that is the most visible link, then in the terms and conditions column there is the Hotelslink.

The first will charge me in USD (booking for a US trip) whereas the second can choose the currency, not sure if this makes a difference?

Thanks

Shouldn't matter either way, both links are supplied on the Amex site so should be able to be relied upon and both have the 10 points per $1 prominently displayed on their landing page.

Sorry to revive a thread, was wondering if anybody knew if the $350 or more minimum to earn the 10 points per $1 is specifically in AUD or if it is in whichever currency the booking is paid in? For eg a hotel booking for my parents overseas that they have asked me to look into comes out to $355USD or if chose to search in AUD comes out as $344 or so. Curious as to whether paying in USD would be eligible for the bonus points.

Haven't tried as I usually select AUD given I then don't get charged the FX fee and the price difference is t usually too bad between 'local' and AUD

Just made a booking for July (and also an Air Asia flight for family), will see how long the bonus points for each take to post.

My take is that the offer is an Amex Australia offer and the $ amount is therefore logically AUD$350 minimum. When you book as long as the selected currency in AUD$ is greater than $350 you comply.

I'm on the search page now looking at hotels for a trip to Europe. However, its quite clear that when you use the proper hotelclub.com/amex link, the prices are sometimes more expensive then other hotel/travel websites and even the standard hotelclub.com page! So obviously they are milking us a little bit here. Suppose it all comes down to how much you value those MR points. For me, its always been 1 cent per Velocity or QFF point, so for the 10 extra points, so long as the price is not more than 10% more than the cheapest I can find, I'll do it. Provided of course that hotelclub.com/amex charge your card in AUD thereby saving you a 3% foreign exchange fee.

Always necessary to shop around, just as you would if you were going to the main HotelClub page...

I find they are pretty sharp for a lot of pricing, especially Australia. Sometimes other sites will quote you in different currencies or their AUD price will be an approximation and they will charge you in the hotel's native currency. I find that HotelClub (through the Amex link) can charge in AUD successfully and Amex don't do what some others do where you get stung the FX fee despite paying in AUD because the merchant is offshore.

Largely I find the 10 bonus points are a great offering and $10 here and there price difference doesn't worry me, however once we are talking hundreds I'll largely reconsider...

Good to hear they charge in AUD. That makes it even more than worthwhile as most of the others (including the hotel websites themselves) do not. I will book with them and advise how long it takes before the bonus points appear...

Make sure you choose AUD when searching and double check on the finalisation page...

Don't hold your breath - in the past it has taken at least 8 weeks for the points. Put it in your diary!!

Thanks Prozac, makes sense. Ended up making a booking for >$350 that was competitive with other sites, so now just have to wait for the bonus points. One of the few decent bonus partners offers left now it seems.

I've been using this offer as long as I could remember. It takes about 6-8 weeks for the bonus points to appear. But I've had mixed results in terms of receiving points on the basic spend. In some cases I got 1x, in others 2x. It seems to be really random. In one instance I received the bonus despite the booking being $320.

The link I always use is hotelclub.com/amex and select AUD as currency.
