Hi there, I just got my new Platinum charge card and noticed that the CX MP Gold benefit expired on 15 Feb 2013. Anyone try to apply after this date, and was it successful? It looks like it was an benefit that had been around for some time. Or does anyone know if the expiry date might be extended? Thanks

I lodged the form and am waiting to hear back, they are taking their time. I will be mighty annoyed if they dont honor it, without this benefit the card is a waste of money.

Confirming this is still on. I emailed Amex to ensure it was still on, and they gave me a new form (with no expiry date) and an address to send it to. Card arrived about a month after I sent the form off. Have no plans of flying Cathay Pacific, but obviously looking forward to using the Qantas Lounge when I fly Qantas.

Can I ask when did you submit the form?

Could you possibly post the form they sent you :)???

I used the form which still had the 15/2/13 expiry date. All good, the card arrived in the post today!

I sent the form off around 20 March. The welcome letter from Cathay was dated 25th.

I have a number of QFF points but am unlikely to get enough Marco Polo points to do anything with and am QF silver but without a separate Qantas Club membership. Is it better to book QF with the QF FF number and then just show MP Gold card at the lounge to get lounge access or does booking with Marco Polo Gold (with one world emerald? status) give a better outcome (other perks, priority luggage etc). If the latter, if I put Marco Polo number in the booking, can I somehow get QFF points or do I have go go down the Marco Polo points scheme route. In other words, should I book with my MP number (to get Gold perks) or QF number (to get points) or is there some way I can have it both ways!

out of interest - did you guys Fax or Mail the form? or email?

I sent mine back on the 6th of April and I havent heard anything - I even tried logging on to the MP website and emailing Cathay to get my details they cant find an account.. not looking good for me.

I faxed mine. But it did end up taking 4 weeks for the card to arrive.

For anyone else who intends to apply, I would strongly recommend setting up an AsiaMiles account online first and then quote that membership number on your MPG application. That way, you have the ability to check when you've been processed without waiting for emails, etc. I did this and my application was processed at least a week before a mate who applied at the same time without an AsiaMiles account - having said that, it still took about 3 weeks!

Thats exactly what I did actually. I joined Asian Miles and then lodged a form (via Fax) on April 3. I contacted AMEX online and they confirmed (Through their database team) today that they had received the form and forwarded it to Cathay for processing.

Just logged on to Marco Polo using my number and pin and I can see that i now have gold status.

Interesting to note that this was not there yesterday so this was just a timing thing. So - Lodged form on 3 April - Gold granted 17/4 - 2 week turn around - not bad!

Has anyone had their MP Gold renewed automatically for a second time as part of the Amex Platinum benefit?
