Does anyone have any experience with ANZ suspending or cancelling rewards awarded in the past even though credited to your rewards account? on the basis of business expenditure?

Agree had balance which they have now suspended after a phone call saying business transactions and all points forfeited. No notice!

Is business expenditure excluded?
Was it business expenditure?

if yes to both then within their rights.......play the game and find another card

if no to question 2 then that sucks

I would be cancelling the card.

The bank made money from your transactions and didn't want to give you anything for it. Despite what their unfair terms say it's rude to actually deny you of the points especially when 1000s of other cardholders receive points from biz trans every day.

Get an Amex plat. Biz transactions are encouraged.

875,757 points gone which credited in nov15. ANZ took the fees though from processing the transactions. Raised dispute with them.

Ouch.

Are we talking a rewards black card? Did you put ~$300k-$450k through it in one month? (I'm assuming a mix of visa/Amex)

i (fortunately or unfortunately) have never had the problem of putting anywhere near that much business spend through a CC, but given business spend is excluded on ANZ personal cards, you were playing with fire at those kind of numbers.

Yes mate, amex primarily at rate of 3points per $1, Yes ANZ Black Rewards Card.

I think there is something that says eligible transactions being domestic, private and household in nature. But agree nothing that says business transactions. Thanks for the links.

To put that through in one month and lose it is sad :(
I also have the ANZ Rewards Black and went to look at the T&Cs. It does not say anything about uncapped points, only there are "uncapped flexible rewards" (seriously?). Nor can I find anything about limits due to business expenditure.

It does say that the ANZ Rewards Diners card has no limit to the number of points that can be earned.
The ANZ FF Black does say that there is no spending cap, but that is with QFF points only - both are different card types as you probably are aware.

Good luck!

Points actually credited in late oct15 and nov15. Had them in my account for over say last 30-60days. So does this mean they can just take anyone's points without notice under their t&c a whenever they like. A bit rich!

Saying that only "eligible transactions" earn points is very different to a right to delete your entire points balance. Legal demands should be written to ANZ.

Maybe agree with them not awarding or issuing points when the transactions get processed. At least we are on notice no points being applied at time of transaction. But to process, credit the rewards account systematically in past and now some two months later say you forfeit them all regardless. Sets very harsh precedent for ANZ and reward point holders. No certainty! This so why people but money under their mattresses and walls. No trust. Never thought I would see the day!

Can contact anyone at ANZ with request for answers, spoken to 9 different people, 12 telephone calls later. Unable to talk with anyone who has the responsibility for their actions. ANZ quick to act but now not willing to talk or respond. So frustrating, does anyone have any suggestions..

With the exception of Amex, I always move my points as soon as I can - I don't trust most of these institutions farther than I could spit out a rat.

But now the deed is done, geez, you'll need to pore over the T&C and if there are grey areas, hire a lawyer and present to ANZ via him. Seriously, all the above sounds par for the course in my dealings with ANZ over the years. I generally can't maintain a relationship with them for more than about 3-6 months before I run screaming.

Geeeezzz, I'm spooked now, just transferred all my 750k points from ANZ. I put through heaps of biz expenses. Forget waiting for the 15% bonus transfer I'm just happy there in a new home and safe. Hope this is not the beginning of a new trend by the banks. Remember they are all reviewing their FF rates and models due to the changes in their exchange rates/charges. Turbulent times are coming I'm afraid.

ANZ called and replied with offical letter. Contravene 3.(a) of ANZ card T&Cs and that they have the right to sole discretion to cancel the points. Guy from ANZ unapologetic and quite arrogant. Like crime commitment yet they have benefit from merchant fees! ... Warning to all. Beware Beware Beware....

Whilst it doesn't apply to me (I don't have business spend), this is really worrying when they can pull out that clause in T&C. I don't know how fair is it but I wonder if you can get Ombudsman involved ...
