Just thought I'd create this thread to keep track of those attending the QF Tweet & Eat at Spice Temple next weekend, and to see if anyone might need help with lounge access etc etc if travelling from interstate.

I haven't booked flights yet (might go and do that now), but I'm leaning towards:

13/4 QF611 BNE-MEL (08:00-10:25), to avoid landing into MEL at 11:25am if the event starts at 12pm
13/4 QF634 MEL-BNE (19:05-21:15), as I don't want to be rushed leaving Spice Temple... the earlier flight (QF628) departs at 17:05, which is a little rushed for my liking!

I can guest 2 into the BNE J lounge, can guest 2 into the MEL J lounge upon arrival (if the flight is on time, of course), and again into the MEL J lounge after the event on the way home.

According to the other thread, the guest list so far (in order of posting, and then also those that I've seen posting on FB/Twitter):

  • ChrisCh (obviously :p)
  • anat0l
  • simongr (decision pending)
  • DeKa
  • LiamR
  • drewbles
  • nlagalle
  • Boogs
  • TravelGuru
  • Brettmcg
  • Princess Fiona

So - who is flying (and how is everyone getting there from the airport)? Obviously, my first thought was Skybus (I usually book online to save some time at the stations), but I do have a Myki if regular PT is on the cards (provided that it doesn't take tooooooooooo long, as I've never really looked into it)!

Drewbles - I noticed your offer of a lift in the other thread. I know you're unsure of your arriving flight, though did you mean that you were planning on an 11am departure from SYD, or an 11am arrival into MEL? Just checking, as the 11am arrives at 12:35pm. :)

Finally, if anyone has missed it and is trying to sort out travel/transport, QF tweeted that the event would be from 12-3:30pm :)

Looking forward to it! :D

Congrats all. If the number of attendees was limited to 50, then this makes aff consisting of about 20pc of attendees!

I will update when my plans are definite. At this stage I'm in SYD on the Fri evening, need to be in CBR on Sat evening. Will most probably go SYD-MEL in early am ( later fights are very expensive). I will leave the event early and get the 3.25 pm flight to CBR.

I'm also flying down on QF611 and back on QF634 from BNE so can also guest 2 into the J lounge. I'm happy to get the skybus or club together and share a cab into Melbourne.

I got to the 'details coming' page - I wasn't sure if that meant I'd got in or not, but it seems like I'm in as well. :)

I'll be on the 109, have a few guest spots available at the tram stop J bench. ;)

I don't believe Spice Temple has officially been confirmed has it? It does seem like an expensive venue for a twitter comp (even with a good chunk of AFFers going).

As for the offer of a lift in to the city from MEL it may still be there. I've offered first dibs on front seat to simongr as he arrives shortly before I do. I've now re routed my international flight to arrive into MEL rather than need to transit SYD so I'm back around 9am. I can still fit someone in the back of my car that's either short or happy to be a little squeezed for the run down Citylink. As it'll be we'll before lunch and ill be coming off over 25 hours of only sleeping on planes I propose a light breakfast with a heavy coffee :)

*edit*
12 start as I see. Good that I re routed :)

Ok, I'm in :)
Mixing it up a bit and flying VA to and from the lunch. Using the opportunity to build up the VA SC kitty
Down on VA 816 (arrives MEL 09.35) and back on VA 277.
Would be most grateful if anyone arriving in MEL at the same time as me has space in their car or cab.

I'm also flying down on QF611 and back on QF634 from BNE so can also guest 2 into the J lounge. I'm happy to get the skybus or club together and share a cab into Melbourne.

We could use Uber. I have a $20 voucher for a 'new customer' which I can share with someone (as I'm already a customer).

Well I'm a local, not quite sure what my plans are that morning but if I've got time I'm happy drive out to the airpot and pickup as many AFF'ers as I can.

:)

Oh I live along the 109 tram line too! What stop are you?

I picked up a place, but I'm not sure if I can make it at the moment though. Hopefully it can be transferred to another AFF member.

I'm arriving on the same flight as DeKa and simongr (QF409). Would anyone consider heading back to the J Lounge in MEL for a communal Breakfast (it's free and convenient) before heading out to Spice Temple?

It's work, not home, but North Port 127 - I'll be at the bit of stray paint that signifies the PB line. ;)

No one has confirmed it's Spice Temple :P

I'd rather not go back to the J lounge. There's a great place in North Melbourne we can do Coffee and Breakfast. At that hour i'm going to need *good* coffee!

If you're happy to squeeze into a small seat, my back seat is yours into the city too. or to the highest bidder ;)

Agree let's go to a cafe in Melbourne rather than the lounge.

Hah! I'm Graham Street, Stop 128. Small world!

Tempted to take a can of paint and draw a line tonight ;)

Cheers for the offer. I'll only be able to confirm my movements once I receive the final details from QF.

My original plan was to attend an AFL match that afternoon. As the Tweet-Up is scheduled to finish around 3.30pm, I might still go and reserve my seat in the morning and head back in to the MCG for the second half post-event.

After a very hard day today losing our little dog I have been instructed to make sure I attend on Saturday. I am on 409 down so will happily meet with whoever and share a cab/car to the city.

I don't do buses. I could arrange my usual car from the airport and that would be about $25pp.

I am happy to either sit in the lounge for a while or head straight into the City.

I am on a 4PM flight home at the moment but might try and change that to slightly later (I am on an all points JASA)
