Hi I was traveling on the 7am out of BNE to Mel & confirmed on the 1905 back to Brissy. I can guest into Mel on the return if possible & am keen tio know the best way, share cost etc into and out of the venue...is confirmed as Spice Temple.
If anyone needs a lift south ex BNE on return I will be getting a car back to Surfers after the return of the 1905 Mel flight.

I can pass on my mobile or email for anyone who wishes to discuss Cheers

Just thought I'd create this thread to keep track of those attending the QF Tweet & Eat at Spice Temple next weekend, and to see if anyone might need help with lounge access etc etc if travelling from interstate.

I haven't booked flights yet (might go and do that now), but I'm leaning towards:

13/4 QF611 BNE-MEL (08:00-10:25), to avoid landing into MEL at 11:25am if the event starts at 12pm
13/4 QF634 MEL-BNE (19:05-21:15), as I don't want to be rushed leaving Spice Temple... the earlier flight (QF628) departs at 17:05, which is a little rushed for my liking!

I can guest 2 into the BNE J lounge, can guest 2 into the MEL J lounge upon arrival (if the flight is on time, of course), and again into the MEL J lounge after the event on the way home.

Obviously, my first thought was Skybus (I usually book online to save some time at the stations), but I do have a Myki if regular PT is on the cards (provided that it doesn't take tooooooooooo long, as I've never really looked into it)!

Drewbles - I noticed your offer of a lift in the other thread. I know you're unsure of your arriving flight, though did you mean that you were planning on an 11am departure from SYD, or an 11am arrival into MEL? Just checking, as the 11am arrives at 12:35pm.

Finally, if anyone has missed it and is trying to sort out travel/transport, QF tweeted that the event would be from 12-3:30pm

DeKa - I'd be happy to share an Uber car with a few AFF'ers, though if you are planning on heading out for coffee after the 409 (which lands a couple of hours before the 611 from BNE), then I certainly won't ask you to wait around for those arriving after yourself!

simongr - Same to you re: car. Happy to split the cost, but also don't want to hold you up at the airport if there is coffee to be had for those on the 409!

Liam - Very generous of you! If your schedule does allow you to collect those from the 611, I'd certainly help out with your tolls/fuel... and if not, no problems either

TravelingSmithy - Same again, as you're also arriving earlier than I am! TY for offering a lift to those in BNE - I won't be needing one though

As you can probably tell, I'm not too fussed on how I get there! If there's a car, I'll contribute, and if not, I'll just catch the SkyBus (same for the return) - no issues either way!

Also, I thought the description at the top of the registration page said that the event would be at Spice Temple? Or was it something like Spice Temple-inspired? (I know we haven't received the 'formal' invite yet)

Well thanks to the kind offer from DeKa, I am now have a $20 voucher saved in my Uber (car service) account, ready to share!

Uber's price for Tullamarine -> Spice Temple is $88.60 ($80 + $6.60 in tolls). After the voucher, the price is obviously reduced to $66.60, and the car has room for up to 4 passengers. So, who is interested?

For simplicity, the trip from MEL would cost $22.20ea with 3 passengers, or $16.65ea for 4. I'd be happy to get the car at that rate (particularly as it's $17ea for a one way ticket on SkyBus)!

For those that don't know how Uber works, I (now) have an account, which has my credit card info on file. On arrival into MEL, I would enter our location into the app (or rather, confirm it as it seems to be pretty good at picking it up), and the app gives an estimate of the wait time (usually only a number of minutes). Depending on the wait time, we could stop by MEL J for a coffee (I'll certainly need it, and it'll probably be my 3rd haha...), or head straight there! As payment for the service is automatically made to the credit card on file (mine), if there are 2 or 3 others that are interested, please let me know and we can sort something out. Given that PayPal now accepts AU Amex cards, I'm happy to accept PayPal for your share (this is AFF after all - there are points to be had)! Otherwise, bank transfer or cash is fine (I likely won't have change if you choose cash though - I keep only $5 in my wallet for absolute emergencies, and use plastic for *everything* else haha)!

As a reminder, I'm arriving from BNE off QF611, scheduled to arrive at 10:25am (later than those on the 409 - though if anyone is still around by then, you're welcome to share the car). Ideally, we should time the pick-up request so that they arrive around 11am (giving time for coffee).

Thanks for documenting the flights Chris. I'm departing on QF452 at 5pm.

Enjoy Uber. I normally open the app the moment I can turn my phone on, and make a decision about when to book (ie while the plane is still taxiing, or once I'm in the terminal). I then call the driver and tell him where I'll meet him - the app gives you a call button once the booking is accepted.

drewbles Sorry!! I did a quick skim of the thread for flight numbers and arrival times, but I obviously missed yours! It's been added to the table now. I would take you up on your lift offer, but as I'll be among the last to arrive, I imagine you'll be gone by then!

So we now have enough people ex MEL to make the Uber car viable. I'm happy to proceed as is, but we still have a fourth seat if anyone would like it (and will also be arriving too late for drewbles' offer).

I haven't looked at the return journey yet, though it will obviously depend on what everyone is planning to do after the event (and what a couple of my MEL friends are up to). Thoughts?
