Overnight stopover in SIN

Going to have an 8 hour stopover in Singapore arriving at 12:05am via SQ208 and leaving at 8:05am via SQ600, any good place to rest in the Airport beside the transit hotels? Looking to save the $100 if possible....

I will be travelling with my gf and she can't enter Singapore without a visa, so getting out of the Airport won't be an option unless we got lucky and they waive us through immigration.

A good few hours sleep and shower is worth the $100 - just book a transit room and relax without having to find a snooze couch because by midnight, they will be taken.

Changi after about 1am(?) starts to become rather quiet. At 4am it's almost deserted. Upstairs again would be the place to be.

The transit hotels are pretty good but.

I overnighted in the Dnata/CX lounge a few years ago (was doing HEL-LHR-DXB-LHR-HKG-NRT-SIN-PER-MEL with no stopovers over 3 days).

The upstairs areas of SIN T1-T3 are quiet, even though these areas have most of the airline lounges, some food courts and many of the airports "extras" (such as movie theater, pool and "Entertainment Deck"), they aren't well signposted or advertised and many pax think they aren't allowed up stairs thinking those areas are for premium pax.

Agree with Austman. The transit level upstairs in T3, area to the right of the SQ Lounges was quiet when I walked by a few times this past month.

There are many lounge chairs upstairs. Most are quiet. Grab some food from any of the eateries and a drink from the convenience store and enjoy in the lounge chairs and get some sleep.

One thing I do is walk around all 3 terminals. Lovely walk. Not many people around. I am there again in March on a short overnight transit.

What's the attraction with Crowne Plaza at ~$200/night? I was thinking of Holiday Inn Express Katong at ~$100/night but arriving at 10:50pm and departing next morning at 7:15am makes it a waste of time and money and stress of waking in time to be back at airport before 6:00am as it is a 3K flight.

TIP: If you opt to try and nap/sleep somewhere in the airport overnight make sure you have some warm clothing.

About 15 years ago I was transiting from hot Thailand with the wife and daughters then aged 11, 8 and 6 we we did not have enough clothing and it was freezing overnight as the AC was on full blast!

Agree, but sometimes one forgets.....and coming from the tropics thru the tropics back to the height of an Aussie summer we got caught out.

I was thinking of Holiday Inn Express Katong at ~$100/night but arriving at 10:50pm and departing next morning at 7:15am makes it a waste of time and money and stress of waking in time to be back at airport before 6:00am as it is a 3K flight.

It's new and I'm going to try it tomorrow, but I have a ca 24 hour transit stop which makes it more worthwhile.

It does seem a bit hard to get to from Changi by train or bus but I think I've figured it out.

Please come back with how this goes. I am planning for the same thing later this year (32 hr stopover) and that Holiday Inn is where I was going to stay. And besides, the food is always good in Katong

it does seems like a PITB to get to Holiday Inn Katong

Think you can either take a bus to Parkway Parade (is there a direct bus there?) and walk
Or, take a train to a nearby MRT station, and then take a bus

btw - on the subject of food, in my view, the Chicken Rice at the basement of the nearby Katong Shopping Centre is one of the best in Singapore

Thanks all, time to ask how my "boss" feel about staying overnight at the airport without a hotel, don't really want to be single again to save $100!

Personally given it is only an 8 hour stopover, there's probably only enough time for 4-5 hours of sleep after you deduct off the landing time, shower etc so it probably doesn't make much difference either way.

I'm with Denali, if you're not flying at the pointy end, then $100.00 is a cheap way to refresh, and prepare for the onward journey. remember sleep is your friend

Only travelling in Y, was part of the mistake fare for VA last year so we literally will be at the back of the bus as we can't even select seats .

Might have to end up biting the bullet if it reduces the risk of an angry gf

FWIW, I'm travelling to ICN in April on this exact same fare. I was able to select seats by calling Singapore Airlines and quoting the ticket number.

It's a nice hotel for a HIX. Modern, comfortable. Good bed and shower. Breakfast was fine by HIX standards.

Transport for me was:

1. Train to Tanah Merah then exit B.

2. Bus 14 or 14A direction CLEMENTI INT from stop 85091

3. Get off at stop ROXY SQ (7.7 km, 22 stops, 33 minutes) stop 92119

4. Walk back a few m to see the HIX entrance signs.

But the bus is not all that easy to negotiate and is far from glamourous!

Thanks for the info, I will call them again, the last agent said she tried but the system errors out when trying to select seats, guess she must be making up stories.
