I've booked JL 5 JFK - HND in F on 777-300 next year - any comments on F seat preference please? And any other comments. Have not done F on JL before.

There are only 2 rows of F 1 - 2 - 1.If by yourself then a window.A couple the 2 centre seats.
I found as a bed it was very comfortable.I tend to squirm a bit so the blanket was off.The FA came and tucked me in.
The Japanese menu is excellent.best food on a plane that I have had but I do like japanese food.

I would select row 2, left hand side of the cabin to reduce proximity to the galley and crew traffic on the right aisle. As a solo - I reckon 2A is the pick, followed by 1A.

There are no bad seats, hard and soft product are both phenomenal. If you like Japanese food I’d recommend to call or email to reserve the Japanese meal or select seat in row 1. I’ve been on one flight where F was full will all Japanese pax apart from myself and they didn’t have enough Japanese meals. Having said that the Western choice is almost as good (best steak I had in the air).

Hope you get Salon but if not I’m sure Cristal will do :)
If you feel like refreshment after alcohol they offer special chilled tea (served in wine glass). Also try their coffee, you’ll not find better one in the air.

The bed is super comfortable, on par with QF and CX.

Can’t praise them enough, you’ll have a great experience!

That’s a very happy to be contemplating excellent F again even if it is 11 months away and may not happen.

Still waiting for an eticket. They say it should come tomorrow. They give me all sorts of reasons - QF Acquire is playing up; JL changed their F class; it’s too early on the schedule to actually get the eticket. Booked for late April. Weird?

I am looking to book the same (US-HND ticket on JL in F). In the same itinerary, I have the option of choosing HND-SYD flights in J, either on JL or QF. They both are overnight flights, on 777 and 787 respectively. What do people recommend?

QF no brainer for me. The JL biz bed is cramped and very short in comparison.

WRT the OP, JL First is excellent. My only criticism is the cabin temperature - like most Asian carriers they think 24-26 degrees is suitable for sleeping.

Done! Thanks for the input.

Is it possible to ask them to change the temperature? On VA 777 in J, crew could adjust temperature of each row individually (I only ever asked them to adjust it in their old-style J). I wonder if JL crew are open to do that for F?

The qualification I'd make to the JL vs QF debate are that the window seats on the JL apex suites are some of the longest seats out there, with the added advantage that there are no cubby holes to restrict leg or foot movement,. I'd estimate the window seats are about 7 foot long.

bindibuys: 1A/K are usually blocked but are often available at the airport at check-in.

Oh no, that’s hot.

I've twice (from Biz) queried the cabin temperature to the JL CSM who agreed both times and adjusted (I could feel it).

But, sick of warm cabins which can't/won't be changed, I started taking a rechargable/USB powered little fan - the size of an 'average' hand with fingers spread. Sorry, can't lay my hand on it now so can't say the brand, but it'll be in any D/F or travel site.

Yes, another bit of carp to take around, but has uses beyond a plane of course.

QF say that JL has changed the coding for their Award seats after 1 Apr.

I have spent weeks trying to get this sorted and now stuck with one way flights to CDG that I am unable to add any other bookings too.

As a couple we are booked in 1D and 1G - with the hope that the Salon is served in Row 1 first

Thank you for this, I am booked SYD/HND JL F next April. Selected seats yesterday.
1A & 1K blocked out, as we both like window seats have gone with 2A & 2K - well that was my only choice lol.
We took 2A/2K and it was fine. The crew would take stuff to TV instead of me walking around to him.

QF introduced their free changes to bookings last week, is yours not covered because you booked it before that offer?
Yes, one agent that keeps giving me a story mentioned that the code had changed. However, that is about five weeks ago, perhaps that’s where the problem of Aquire not working in conjunction with others excuse comes into it.

I still have no eticket, cannot get through to QF, and I want to add my return sectors.

QF is now doing the ‘we will call you back‘, thing but that call never arrives.

Just spent 55 mins on the phone and was able to add my next sector. Had to pay the cc for the third time as the authorisation is taking so long it lapses. Was assured an etkt will be forthcoming. Will believe it when I see it.

I have the forward sectors eTicketed but stuck in the twilight zone trying to add anything beyond due to this ridiculous F Coding issue between QF and JL.

Right now I would be very happy to take any seats in the JL F cabin for our return flights that I still cannot get ticketed.
