First up from me: Coonawarra Roadshow
Event: 3 hours with 26 Coonawarra wineries. Typically it’s the winemaker, vigneron, or the owner that shows up and does the pouring. Top chance to taste a huge selection – easily more than 100 wines on pour, and an opportunity to ask questions and get real answers from the producer.
Time, Date, Place: 5-8pm on August 12 at The Ivy
Participating wineries: Balnaves of Coonawarra, Banks Thargo Wines, The Blok Estate Coonawarra, Bowen Estate, Brand's Laira Coonawarra, Jack Estate, DiGiorgio Family Wines, Highbank Wines, Hollick Estates, Katnook Coonawarra, Kidman Wines Coonawarra, Koonara Wines, Lindeman's Wines, Majella Wines, Parker Coonawarra Estate, Patrick of Coonawarra, Penley Estate, Petaluma, Raidis Estate, Redman Wines, Rymill Coonawarra, St Hugo, Wynns Coonawarra, Yalumba, Zema Estate Wines, and Whistle Post Wine.
Cost: $45 a ticket

Please note the tour is going to other cities and I hear it's pretty much the same format, just different nights, different venues, and a slightly different line-up at each city (check out the link above for further details). So other AFFers in other cities - by all means get your own gaggle going.
I'm in for this event. Please let me know if you want to join us. It should be a great night.
Thanks to Wozza for the mention.
I'll actually be along at this event (and 5 others around the country.) I just had a meeting with a few of the winemakers down here and I mentioned that this thread was alive. They just asked me to tell people to not be shy and to drag some of them out for a meal after. They're normally very keen to take the tasting bottles out with people who want to enjoy them rather than tip them down the sink!
I'm very interested in the Coonawarra wine thing at the Ivy. But does it seriously only go for three hours? 5 - 8pm? For $45?
Seems like a very short time to get through a large quantity of wine.
Unless you do tasting on a professional level, you're unlikely to get through all that wine and still have any ability to distinguish by the end. Better to focus on the 15-20 that you're most interested in.

Would have thought considering a Friday night a later start time would have been better?
Or maybe it's just something I miss not working in the CBD.
I'm more thinking of trying to get in to the city on a Friday night after work, being there by 6:30 at the earliest, then trying to run around for an hour to sample everything I want to sample.

Can I get in to the Ivy with steel cap boots?
