Just received my January AAMail and notice that AA is noting a welcome to the One World alliance in 2012. Have not seen any announcements on Qantas, Malaysian or OneWorld? Does anyone know whether this is correct as it gives us folks in Adelaide more options?

Yes. As here Members elect - oneworld

Malaysia Airlines
Malaysia Airlines was confirmed as a oneworld member elect in June 2011 and is expected to become a full member of the alliance in late 2012.
<snip>
Once the airline becomes of full member of the oneworld alliance, Enrich members will be able to enjoy additional frequent flyer benefits, including the ability to earn and redeem points across the oneworld network and access more premium lounges around the world.

Late 2012 could mean 2013

Does anyone know any information about this? When Malaysian will start statusing SC's to Oneworld + benefits etc? Unlikely to be this month, but I thought I did hear June 2012 as one possibility some time ago.

Late 2012 is still the official story.

Members elect - oneworld

But there was a suggestion on AusBT (?) that they might be a QFF partner sooner.

I hope something gets finalised soon. Virgin left the Enrich programme in April and there's still no news about a tie up with QFF.

I think a lot of people are looking forward to this. MH provides great options out of KUL into Europe. I wonder if we will see QF start a codeshare service to KUL too (albeit on their own metal is unlikely)

‎Announced about an hour ago:

Malaysia Airlines
and JAPAN AIRLINES will commence a code share cooperation effective 1 July 2012 covering up to 347 weekly flights of 51 sectors including the Malaysia – Japan trunk routes as well as selected domestic and international flights operated by both carriers.

So expect to see a few more similar announcements leading up to full OW integration.

I also noticed that MH are using the QF/JQ check-in area at ADL, plus QP lounge facilities. Is that new? Sitting in the QP and they just called MH138 to KUL.

MAS' official entry into OneWorld is currently slated for November. It'll most likely be end of November.

Well if QF doesn't fly to KUL on its own mental then it means the enitre SYD-Europe flights are codeshared - will that really benefit QF from a revenue perspective? Won't it make more money on its own mental SYD-SIN-Europe?

wtf....not surprised by the delay, it's MH after all we are dealing with here :)

Well, this little delay is annoying. It better not go any further than 1Q2013...

I noticed on a booking of ours this morning that Amadeus now holds a QF frequent flyer number against a MH segment, and that MH is listed in the list of agreements under the frequent flyer program (see screen shot below). Nothing on the QF website re what the benefits are, but me passenger the passenger travels next week so will know what, if anything the earn rate is.
