***NEED TO APPLY BEFORE 31ST MARCH 2011***

As I will be staying at the Pullman Auckland shortly for a conference, and not knowing much about the A|Club, I did some searching and came across this promo. You don't have to be a SQ Silver / Gold member to take advantage of this offer;)

A|Club & KrisFlyer

A|Club Gold benefits :
aclubgold.jpg

  • 75% A|Club points bonus for every stay
  • A|Club rewards gift vouchers without any date restrictions
  • Convert A|Club points into KrisFlyer Miles
  • Exclusive benefits at Sofitel*, Pullman and MGallery hotels
    - Welcome drink and gift
    - A room ALWAYS AVAILABLE if you reserve at least 5 days
    before your arrival
    - Room upgrade**
    - Late check-out up to 4:00 pm**

Anyone know what sort of gift to expect?

A Club must be desperate for membership at the moment. They're offering platinum membership to SQ PPS members. Took up the offer, but what with maintaining my SPG and HGP status, not sure I'll get to check it out unless I have to go somewhere without SPG or Hyatt options.

Tempted, but then I’d have to sign up to SQ first, and I generally don’t book through the hotels websites these days anyway.

I am almost certain I am not an A|Club member yet I am always receiving emails about their current promotions and specials.

Have A|Club fixed their points crediting issues? Is transfer to QF at 1:1? Need to look at the terms and conditions again but from memory it was not too exciting the last time I looked. The only advantage I can see is they have some cheap properties and can still earn points on the cheap rates.

Why? Is there a distinct advantage by not using hotel websites? Most times they have cheaper rates anyway.

Points crediting - Seems to have improved.
Ratio to QF - 4000 A-Club:2000.QFF.
(Note 4000 points could get you instead $120 worth of hotel vouchers)

I tranferred 20,000 A Club Points to QFF and I got 20,000 QFF Points.

I am quite sure I am getting 1:1

That has changed in the last week - as this time last week when I checked the site it indicated 4000 = 4000 QF points, I took note as all other airlines had 4000:2000 ratio. 4000:$120 seems a lot better.

As an observation I joined through the promo to PPS members and was comped platinum. Had two stays already (1 Novotel and 1 Sofitel) and in terms of benefits really underwhelming compared to other programs, but I had read that somewhere else. Also a stay I had about a week before I joined could not be retrospectively credited, which I guess is the same as the other hotel programs, and therefore I did not expect (but worth a try). (most airline programs are a bit more generous in this regard).

Am not Silver or Gold with SIA but have given it a go. Will let you know how this goes. Have a couple of bookings in Pullman and Novotel in the next few months so Gold status could come in handy...

A club is quite useless (in my opinion), regardless whether you are silver, gold or platinum. From my experience, you get more recognition in Europe, but not so much in Asia Pacific.

E.g.
- Not all hotels participate in A-Club
- Not all benefits are applied automatically (upgrade / late check out / welcome drink etc)
- Hotel managements have no idea about A Club benefit and will not honour the benefits without a long argument.

STill, it's better than nothing.

Some locations do not have Hilton, ICH or SPG properties so Accor can be a reasonable option. (There are some A|club special rates now and again as well.)

FWIW, over 2½ years I have gleaned just over 3K A|club points, only a couple more stays* and I'll get Airline Miles/Points.

*(now at 3½ per € with this Gold)

I'm not with Krisflyer either, I've joined and booked an Asian hotel. I'll let everyone know whether I can get extended checkout 4pm (handy) and/or freebies.

I use HotelClub, which you got me onto. Most times I don’t book big brands, and don’t have status with big brands, so for the price I pay I get a good deal getting the cash back.

As for A|Club, I’m usually in Ibis properties, which I hear aren’t very recognising of status anyway ;)

If you are booking no name brands then HotelClub would be the logical choice.

As an existing A-Club member I had to email accor according to the website. I did this 10 days ago but have not heard anything back so far is this normal. Also where would you see it on the website if you are Gold? I assume I am not because I can't see it anywhere :D

It showes on the left hand side once you logged in.

The card I received yesterday is also gold edged.

Also, the following image is displayed near the top left hand side of the web page after logging in:

Inside is something like:
