I will be travelling from HKG to LAX in first, with my wife and my 2.5 yo daughter (sorry!). At the moment I am assigned 1A, 1D and 2D, but I would assume taking 3 seats from D and K make more sense and less likely to disturb the others? If you are travelling in F in the same flight in us and you can't get 1A or 2A, where would you rather seat?

You shouldn't feel sorry for a second - enjoy. I know this cabin quite well and it's small. In your circumstance I would take 1K and 2D and 2K. 2K should be a good quiet seat for your 2yo away from the galley with a parent next to and in front.

Many thanks for this maninblack! 1K is already taken by the time the finally booked after numerous stuff ups by you know who (should have just booked through CX), so ended up with 1D, 2D and 2K. It should still be fantastic though!
