Hi I need to be in Rome as close to but before 28th March 2015. 2 PAX. Approx 280,000 QF points. Economy. Need to fly as follows. Brisbane to Bangkok leaving approx. 30th January. Big Gap. Then Singapore to Rome to arrive as above. Few days prior to 28th March is no problem. Prefer to keep the taxes and charges as low as possible. Would be convenient if there were two business class cash seats also available for friends. Happy to pay for advice. Cheers

Jeff, I think you should consider the following:
3 x QFF redemption Business Class BNE-SYD-BKK or BNE-SIN flights - 216000 pts + charges
then purchase 3 x Business Class SIN-CMB-FCO on Mar 25 for AUD $1073 each on Sri Lankan Airlines (One World Partner)

Just buy BKK-SIN as a separate cheap flight.
