Global Wallet: Activate and Load for 1000 points

I'm used to this from QF but the first offer I've seen from VA. Activate card, load minimum $100 AUD and score 1000 points.

Interestingly my brother got the offer, but only for 500 points, not 1000. Anyone else experienced this or thoughts as to why he might get a lower offer?

I got the offer for 500 points too and ignored it as I did w' QF. The QF one kept raising the offer for the next few months.

1000 point offer received here. Don't recall getting any previous offers from VA. Might sit it out and see if a better one eventuates

I only received the 500 point offer.

A few things I suspect may influence the number of points offered:

- status (I'm only red)
- what you earn points on (I've earnt on flights, car rental, eBay & Aus post in the last 12 months).

Me too and I am only red as well. All my flying recently has been with Qantas (work based).

I think previous offers had to do with whether you'd received points from them recently (or transferred points?)

Ok, there goes at least part of my theory! I've got 90SC and 42,000 points!

I recieved the 1000 point offer today. I am a lowly Red member and so far no flights on VA this year. I earn most of my points from Virgin mobile phone bills accruing pounts. I probably have enough points for a flight or two so maybe I shoud give VA another chance.

I've been getting nag emails for a while to activate but this is the first points offer. 1000 points - am SG with 30 SCs to requalify.

Do you think it will be worth hanging out for more? I never bothered with the QF offer as it was going to cost me money to change it back.

If I end up using this offer I won't change the money back. I will just load the $100 on and use it over the course of my day to day shopping, or even better if I can use it for a single transaction that comes to $100. While I have not looked into the details of using the VFF card often you can expect fees and charges somewhere along the line, either as a fee in itself or in exchange fees being more expensive than if you shopped around (in the event that you are looking at foreign currency). So I would expect it to be cheapest to just load once and spend the $ on the card. Naturally YMMV.

I'd activated my red card, but haven't touched my gold one so you should be fine. Though did you receive the offer? It's targeted.
