Went to my first NFL game last night - Dallas Cowboys v New Orleans Saints. The USA do these events so well. It was AWESOME! If only the AFL ....

That Stadium is pretty awesome in its own right.

The whole package is just amazing. From the tailgate parties in the carparks, the arena, the fans, the atmosphere, the showmanship; the entire thing. It's so well run.

We drove around it on our way back to Dallas from Fort Worth. If we'd been better organised we would've done the tour ... any building that cost 1.3B is going to be impressive.

Certianly impressive on the outside.

Vegas?....

The Northern Marianas. They were initially settled by the Spanish hence the town names.
Tinian was the major base for the B29's bombing Japan. The officer in charge of building the infrastructure was from Manhattan hence the road names.

Did a tour of the stadium a couple of years ago, including the players change rooms. Not a fan of NFL but it is pretty darn impressive.

Most people could sell their assets and be a millionaire tomorrow, but it would be an idiotic thing to do. But somehow when the Liberals do it, people think they're economic geniuses.

As opposed to Paul Keating selling Telstra, CBA, CSL (Commonwealth Serum Laboratories) to name just the biggest ones. When Peter Costello did the next Telstra tranche he established the Future Fund to stop the proceeds being spent. BTW the future fund is to try and actually fund the unfunded liability of the Commonwealth Sector Superannuation.

+ve - some public service 'padding practices' get eliminated (eventually), efficiency goes up
-ve - they establish Cayman island, Guernsey, Bermudan, Monaco, Gibraltar etc subsidiaries.

It is very true that once you've sold the house, land, car, furniture etc then you're bankrupt if you haven't paid off your debts.

Although floating Qantas may actually have been the best thing to do!

For those of you not on my Facebook feed (everyone else move along):
Went into Target today and bought a very expensive (by Target standards) quilt cover set. It scanned as "Ladies Top $25" #winning

I hope you don't mind another like, such a great deal.

Train fire in Sydney tonight wasn't me. I'm at the depot waiting for it to come in to be inspected.

For those who know the area, it stopped on the top of the rollercoaster above Woodville Rd near Granville.

Luckily, there were no passengers onboard.

One for the vegetarians:

I realise most vegetarians will eat dairy (cow's milk) and eggs, and similarly foods which contain these, like cheese, chocolate, meringue, most cakes - vegans will not - and...I'm assuming most vegetarians will not eat butter (i.e. butter produced from cow dairy).

If called on a recipe that requires butter (e.g. baking, some well-known French sauces), would you sub in margarine instead, or a non-dairy butter substitute, or something else? Or, are any recipes like that simply off limits?

That depends on what kind of vegetarian they are. by choice or by birth.

But usually butter is not an issue.

Hmmm....actually now that I think of it, if a vegetarian will drink milk / eat dairy then why will they not eat butter. :o

I think I was thinking "butter comes from animal fat" and animal fat instantly drew in my mind that means you need to kill the animal to get at that fat to make butter.

I knew something wasn't screwed on properly this morning....
