Smaller beer glass sizes

I'm struggling to decipher what you mean by this post, however if you are attempting to suggest that the lounge service staff will only serve beer in glasses then I call BS on that. I've NEVER had an issue asking for the bottle rather than a glass.

I'm only repeating a suggestion that has been made in the past. That the business lounge staff only serve beer in a glass and therefore that was a sign of the lounge's superiority. I didn't make the suggestion and like you, I think it doesn't match reality. But it was made, there was some element of truth to the claim as the bar staff would almost always pour the beer into a glass. I'm not going bother doing a search. But it is an interesting turn around to the current situation where taking the bottle is almost universal. It would be interesting to see what that means in light of the opinions expressed previously.

Hopefully, this verbose expansion of my previous post is more easy to understand.

Yes, now I understand. Thanks. :p

FYI - Do more taps equal smaller glasses?

Domestic customers are enjoying more generous portions, fantastic quality, more choice and a more streamlined service as a result of renewed investment in our food and beverage offering.

Here are some of the exciting new initiatives we’ve been working on:

In-flight:

  • Economy passengers travelling on medium and short flights can now enjoy our delicious range of hot and cold gourmet dinner packs. With more substantial portions (up to 50% more) and a greater selection of menus customers can expect a higher quality meal and service standard.
  • Bringing restaurant style experiences to the sky, business customers can now enjoy a fish of the day meal option fresh from their departing port as part of their Neil Perry designed menus.

On the ground:

Qantas Club members will love:
  • Our expanded hot breakfast menu offering a choice of boiled eggs, baked eggs and frittatas to accompany their choice of bakery and sides.
  • Our hot snacks service in the afternoon which is set to be a firm favourite at the end of the work day with seasoned sweet potato fries, empanadas, and mini meat pies just some of the delicious treats on offer.

In our Business lounges we offer:
  • A ‘Diner’ style snack each weekday afternoon where our guests can enjoy freshly made taco’s, sliders and pulled pork rolls with a cold afternoon beer or glass of wine.
  • As we approach summer, Business lounge customers will also enjoy our new gelato of the day.

New Beer taps being installed across our domestic network of lounges will ensure customers get the freshest coldest beer on offer with a selection of delicious premium, local, imported and regional beers available.

I'm hoping the regional beers bit means we get Pale Ale back on tap in Adelaide.

Absolutely.

Was shocked last month to see Coopers Pale missing from the taps - hadn't been through ADL for a while and that was to be the highlight of my day, so disappointing.

A few years back you had no choice.

Policy was to only serve beer in a glass.

That's fine, but a few years ago no one was complaining about glass size either. Not sure of the relevance to the current situation?

Simply replying to your comment you have NEVER had an issue asking for the bottle rather than the glass.

And yes the change is not a life threatening issue but it would be nice to have a beer glass able to hold the entire contents of a beer bottle.

LOL
We already had a thread comparing salad varieties, let's see how much lower we can go :D

I thought the issue raised about single ply toilet tissue now being used in the J lounge was a bit below the belt and as low as one could get. :)

But the question is... How many ply in the toilet paper in the VA lounge? :D
And is the toilet paper there purple themed?

Have no idea :)

Wow we really are going down the toilet aren't we LOL :)

For the rest of the commentators, I'm not making a comment about the volume of the glass, that isn't the issue. The issue is the comparative change at Qantas (alone) and that qantas social media assured me the glass size had not been reduced.

It's really isn't that hard. People on AFF have expressed the opinion that the qantas business lounge was refined and superior because of the glass policy. Now that the glass size has been reduced, possibly for cost cutting reasons, that means not using a glass is the preferred and better option. Also appears to be the preferred option of staff as well. I simply thought it would be interesting to compare the current situation with those previously expressed views. The relevance should be apparent, do those people think that standards are lower? Is reducing things like glass size reducing standards, ITO?

Just had a very nice White Rabbit (out of the bottle) in the SYD J lounge.
