Virgin Australia Multi-City Booking

I booked a considerable amount of multi city travel on QF and NZ just last week simply because VA don't have an online tool for it. Hard to believe it hasn't been done a year after Sabre... Is the web team working on anything?

Absolutely .... a hell of a lot of research and work is on going into determining where the best coffee and baguettes can be obtained within a 3 to 4 km 'as the crow fly's' radius of the Virgin Bowen Hill Headquarters. Just back right off and let them get on with the job .......... OK ?

Agree , it one of my annoyances with VA . the inability not to offer Multi-City still shows the LCC in them .

I thought so too, Medhead! Etihad has a useful multi-city booking tool. I think they use Sabre? Seems like VA went "Sabre light", cheers PJ

Like a lot of things - Sabre (if correctly rolled out) can do multicity/multistep bookings, online seat selection, calculate fares correctly, do single sign on, have seat selection on partner airlines and do award bookings on international and domestic flights. The caveat being if the VA web site can correctly communicate with Sabre. We know Sabre can do all of these things because other Sabre users can do them.

Pre Sabre - the VA website had its issues, but it could do some of the things listed above, albeit in a bit of a "borky" or unreliable way.

Last night I was organising some domestic multi-city flights and after my session timed out, it took me book to the 'booking' page (i.e. http://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/bookings/flights/make-a-booking/#multicity)

So I decided to have a faff about and check some other itineraries and I was able to price some *international* multi-city bookings between SYD and YYC - most of them on DL with no Westjet at all. I've not been able to replicate it today. But this suggests it is possible. Does anyone know how to make the work-around work on command rather than by fluke?
