Great news for those of us on the non QF side of the equation.

Air New Zealand chief executive Christopher Luxon has confirmed an Auckland to Buenos Aires route in 2015.

The 13-hour-plus flight will be operated by one of Air New Zealand's eight newly refurbished Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, which carry 304 passengers.

The aircraft will operate three return services a week on the route all year round.

Would love to try NZ J long haul if they will release some award availability.

When QF started non stop Syd-Eze flights a few years back, I jumped at the opportunity to attend a conference in BsAs in 2010....unfortunately, a year or so later, QF canned the flight:(

Syd-Akl-Eze on NZ sounds good...but what are the chances of getting an award flight in J??

Hopefully they do, and selfishly I hope UA lets me route USA-EZE-AKL on a single award :D.

And NZ is worlds better than AR even on NZ's worst day...

So now will be able to do RTW entirely in Southern Hemisphere on one alliance. Although I don't think star have a xONE3 equivalent.

Probably close to nil to be honest. I've had Expert Flyer 'flight alerts' for NZ 'I' class months in advance & not a peep.

People complain about not being able to get 'U' class on QF but that's a piece of cake compared to NZ

Three times I've had success booking JASA's (when they were in existence) SYD/HNL or vv as a result of J award seats being released closer to departure eg one month prior after setting alerts in E/F.

If you're WP you can always request award seats be released to you.

It would be great to get feedback from those who have been able to do get NZ awards in J eg what flights/routes & how far in advance they booked.
