Hey all,

I am a WP with Qantas and a Gold in the Marco Polo Club.

Flying J from LHR via HK on a reward redemption flight. Is there any benefit from having the MP details on the booking / boarding pass or should I stick with QF?

Thinking:

Comp Upgrade to F.
Lounge access.
On board service.

Having gold on the booking may assist with an upgrade if the flight is oversold as these are prioritised to golds above oneworld emeralds.

F Lounge access can be achieved just by showing your WP card, onboard service is unlikely to differ in J regardless of either of your statuses.

CX treat their own elites very well, as I am sure you are aware, so MPC Gold would be preferential to list.

Anecdotally, I have heard that MPC Diamonds and Golds have their onboard meal orders taken first before other J passengers which is a nice touch for CX elites.

Agree with yohy. MP gold beats qf plat and your qf plat card will get you into first lounges with some talking. Some agents want to see a lounge invitation but I've always talked my way in even with zero status on the boarding pass

I always try and get a bulkhead either for the mini cabin or the main cabin so maybe there is no particular need (since I get served first), but I didn't see the crew proactively taking orders due to MPO status. The CX system these days kind of makes this 'taking order' thing redundant as they just cook all the food first anyway and get you to choose the finished product after seeing all of them brought next to you.

Had I sat at the back, maybe it could've been a different story but I've never had a flight with CX in the past couple of years where my preferred meal choice was unavailable - whether this is some exceptional luck or the crew being proactive to ensure this happens, I can't say as I'm the lone flyer type that devotes 99% flight time reading or keeping to myself and hardly pay attention to the cabin.

In Y, treatment is definitely better for DM/GOs. They'll save meals for you (to ensure there is 1 left by the time they serve you, much to the dismay of your neighbors when the CC tells them there's none left then turns around to you and pulls out your one :P), sometimes give you some extra food/drinks from J and occasionally address you by name. This last one, I think its up to each CC working on your aisle being proactive and not really a procedural thing.
