Have just received an email with details on this fare, could be helpful to some out there..

Other cities available: Beijing & Taipei

Says to check on Google flights then book on MH website paying in Thai Baht.

Nice find! $460AUD but a 9 hours overnight layover on the outbound flight.

Why don't you sleep in the MH J lounge? Apparently they got relaxation rooms for J customers? I slept in the transit hotel it's cough. Room is hot and the mattress is cough

Nice find! Thanks.

I booked it. No over-nights in KUL needed for me. But it's a 2 day min return restriction. So 2 nights in HKG. Cost was THB 12710 which is showing as AUD 481.88 on my credit card.

It earns (I think!) 280 QFF SCs.

Qantas has it under 750 miles. Perhaps 747 miles?

Yes they do. 749 miles!! (according to the QF Earning Points Calculator). 2 miles short! :(

In that case BKK-KUL-HKG return earns 240 SCs in business class.

Out of interest which hotel? I found it OK for the price.

This one works to PVG and PEK as well. Not that familiar with QF SCs, but one way KUL-PVG nets 140 BA TPs, so the whole trip BKK-KUL-PVG-KUL-BKK should give you 360 TPs or 0.64 TP per AUD. Pretty good value!

John it's the sama sama express, airside not the premium one outside the terminal

Looks like this ones over. I had a look and could see $500 EK "J" fares direct though. No SCs though.
