Hi all,

I have 4 pax flying J from BNE to AUH then on to CDG all in J and 100% VA points. We are flying 2nd Aug so we are on the new 787-900.
I also have the return flight on the same booking for the 31st Aug.
The little devil inside of me would like to surprise the other pax and get to AUH in 1st. I can see that there are 2 seats available and I'm assuming after I take the 2, two more may become available. Am I pushing my luck by booking the two 1st s, keeping my original booking until I get the 2nd lot of 1st s (if available) Will I be jeopardising the whole booking ie, return legs?? ... BTW: the connecting flight to CDG is on separate booking (with a 2 hr wait at AUH).
Any thoughts would be wonderful. I am happy to stay put, but considering that its only 37K points difference per pax, its dam tempting. Mark

Chances of more than 2 seats being available in reward class are very slim considering only 8 seats in F.

Keeping the original 4 seats and then making a booking in F class for another 2 seats risks loosing all 6 seats as the system will pick up a dupe booking and may cancel them all

Thanks williamsf1, I suspected this may be the case. I guess I should be grateful for what I have. I will stay put. Thanks again. M

Hi williamsf1,

For what its worth, I called up WP help desk, and they advised that its quite alright to book the two 1st direct with Etihad Guest rewards then just call VA and they will split the original booking and cancel 2 pax. I rang the WP help desk a second time and asked another operator who confirmed it would work. My problem is I have VA points which do not transfer to Etihad and my Amex points balance is too low. Westpac rewards dont transfer to Etihad either. Anyways, the long and short of it is it is possible... Cheers

Hi Pushka, sorry for late response, OP, being me, wanted to do it two at a time. But after learning that I need to full points in EY Guest rather than VA, or Altitude Rewards Its not possible. All this will change after Oct 15 I think when you can get suites/1st rewards on Krisflyer AND EY Guest direct from VA. M
