it does amaze me how little empathy we can have with each other.

I don't think I've every used a call button. Just alwasy feel guilty and wander up to the galley and ask for whatever it is I need.

Having done a few J flights now, mostly TG and BR with a bit of QF, I can honestly say that the westerners tend to be the ones saying thank you as each dish is brought out, or wine glass refilled etc.

The old adage of you get more flies with honey than vinegar resonates with me. Being polite doesn't cost us anything, and in fact helps to reward both parties.

For those stuck away from aisles, wandering up to the galley can be more difficult of course ! Used sparingly and appreciatively I think it is OK to use call button, especially during longer flights. Recently sitting near someone in economy on a MH flight who used the call button, not once but twice during the flight. From SIN to KUL!!! Flying time 35 minutes. I would never dream of using it on such a short sector unless it was legitimate emergency.
