Hi There
we are wanting to work out the best flights for our family of 4 to travel SYD - LAX in September (dates flexible) - we want 10 day duration flying with Qantas

We have 195,000 Qantas points which we prefer to use on an UPGRADE if possible OR an award flight

Any help?

i am still working this forum out so i apologies if I've not requested correctly

thanks

Hi Bec,

Firstly, welcome to AFF.
Sadly 195k points is not going to get you far in terms of award flights for a family of four.
A one way Business Class redemption is 96k per person. Premium Economy is 72k per person.

For upgrades, especially on busy routes like the US routes, they will be processed in order of status. Do you have any status with Qantas ? Like Platinum, Gold, or Silver etc ?

And even if you have status, to upgrades for four passengers would be tough. You'd probably need to travel on consecutive days or two from SYD and two from MEL etc.

So yeah it doesn't look too promising. Generally with Qantas it is difficult to upgrade or get awards for more than two passengers on any one flight.
