VA30 just got bumped for EY A380 flight. What 4 business seats to replace row 5?

So, I had a family trip booked, 4 seats on VA30, the 3 middle Row 5, + one of the side aisle seats.

We were actually looking forward to this as we wanted to travel as a family, Mummy + 2yo and 6yo in central Row 5, and me on the side.

perfect.

Now... what should we do if we have to rebook in EY's staggered business?

(I assume the 777 might be getting its refurbishment at this time I guess)

I'd be very happy with this change the Business Studio product that EY has looks great!

I would try and get the middle section four near by say 11D & G and 12EF

I'd be ecstatic if that happened to me...the products are on different planets!

To keep it more 'private' for the 4 of you, maybe 25D, E, F, G. If not, go in two separate rows with E and F for both.

Having just endured row 5, enjoy EY! It sure as hell can only get better that the current VA seats. New VA seats cant come soon enough!

VA777 to EY A380 ..... I would call that a massive upgrade !!!! WIN!!!!!!! The 777 row 5 has NOTHING on the A380 ... enjoy!!!!

We recently flew EY A380 in J and it is a fantastic product.

I'm in the same boat, but was on VA29 via SYD. Now re-booked on a direct MEL-AUH flight (i.e. 777)

Now I'm fighting tooth and nail to have them route me back through SYD so I can get on the A380 (and use a better lounge).

I keep being told it's not possible and that I'd have to cancel and rebook (which I don't want to do, since it was booked on the 15% points discount). Called 4 times already – will not give up.

Very jealous you were automatically moved to the A380. I assume you're ex-SYD.

I know I'm a sick puppy, but I just wanted to give VA's coughpy J seat a go before they get replaced...

What's the feeling on EY's 777 J product vs VA's?

Still not even in the same ball-park...EY 777 is vastly superior.

I wouldn't say that. If you are travelling with a partner and don't occasionally mind either them jumping over you or you jumping over them I would pick VA 777 J over EY 777 J. I find it more comfortable and far more room lying on an 'open' seat like VA than EYs 'nook' style. Also, EY seat needs to be brought back upright if you want to get out whilst VA you can just jump off. Find VA service more consistent too..

I can agree that the VA service is very good, but I've only had excellent experiences in EY too. Like you, I'm also not a massive fan of the covered leg area of EY, but when I'm sleeping it doesn't bother me. When flying J however, one of the major points for me when considering airlines is direct aisle access. Personal opinion of course.

the EY business seats are very cramped in the footwell when in bed mode. Alsoand if you are a COS you may find it hard to get to a window or middle seat as the access is very narrow.

We still seem to have VA Row 5 on the SYD/AUH leg, but I guess we'll get to directly compare against EH on the AUH/SYD leg.

Thing is, we have a 2 and 5 year old. I guess the 5 year old gets to sit with daddy. The tragedy is you just know that the 2 year old is going to leave a vacant seat. The first flight is actually 1 day after the 2yo's birthday. Trying to fly across the infant/child gap would've resulted in tripling the cost of the tickets!

If it was just me and my wife, I'd be loving the EH 380 upgrade.

Flight schedules still keep on getting messed around, so now that I'm back from my latest sojourn, I'll be able to get onto VA and hopefully sort this out. At the moment the connection has gone from 3 hrs to 18 hrs.

Thanks for the recommendations on seat choices

Yes, I know the now 'old' VA J product is inferior, but in a family situation the virtual 3 bedroom private suite which the middle Row 5 is perfect.

Thinking the back cluster on EH 380 J looks like a nice cozy private area. Ie Row 25/26 DEFG

Anyone got any direct experience there?

My wife didn't enjoy being near the bar on her last flight... although I love it ;)

Ended up going for 10/11 DEFG

12E was taken. Apparently plenty of seating availability on the Nov 25th flight at this stage though

Was able to rebook Row 17 for the Economy leg again (equiv of Row 3)
