Have 99000 points just transferred over from Amex to Velocity we have booked a trip to the UK Dec 26 to Jan 30
any advice would be a great help.

1 is it worth the 250 points upgrading from the Velocity Blue to the Silver?.

2.Can the points be used to get upgraded seats all I see is a bidding system makes it hard to work out how many
points to bid per leg would be much better for the return trip

3. Use some of the points for the Virgin Lounge?

2 Adults 7 & 1 17 year old will be travelling

Thanks In Advance

1 This sounds like you are talking about 250 status credits which are different to points, more details here: https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Status/HowItWorks/

2 you cannot upgrade international flights with points unless you are Gold or platinum status

3 you cannot use points for international lounge access (only domestic which isn't a very good return for the price)

sorry to be a bit of a downer on the plans! you might want to look at using the points for reward flights - https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Redeem/Airlines/reward-seat/

Hi
It would help if you could let us know a couple of details. Initial thoughts are points will be difficult to use this trip
Who are you flying with (the ticketing carrier)?
What class are you flying in? (Discount economy, Economy, Business or First-even better if you know the booking class)
Which airports (there may be other paid lounges available)
If you are flying Virgin or one of its partners you may well end up a fair way up the status ladder if you family pool to one of the party. This may help you for future travels at least

Thanks for the replys

Well I am flying with my wife and 17 year old son from Perth, we had booked cattle class and were hoping to upgrade for a little more comfort, but that looks like thats out
according yohy so it looks like we will be stuck with what we have

Best advice is to register everyone with Velocity accounts, set up Family Pooling and grab all the resulting points for your wife and yourself. Then, somewhere down the track you can look at redeeming 94K points per pax for a J seat PER to somewhere. Or, send the 17 y.o. off in style for their gap year or gift if for their 18th.
