Next year I'm considering the following itinerary:

SYD-LAS
LAS-LHR
LHR-SYD

It would be a revenue ticket in business class (Not an award ticket) and I was wanting to know if it's at all possibly to book the entire itinerary using VA flight numbers that would involve code-sharing on DL for the LAX-LAS sector, DL or VS for the LAS-LHR sector and either EY, SQ or VA for either all or part of the LHR-SYD sector.

If it is at all possible to book as all VA flight numbers I presume I could not do this online and would require either a call to VA or use travel agent.

You can do the SYD- LAS and LHR SYD on VA flight numbers but out of luck with the LAS LHR as this would have to be on VS flight numbers

+1 to this

You can still plate it all to VA though, so you have one PNR for the whole trip and use VA flight numbers where they exist (but you don't have to)

Only BA do LAS-LHR direct so if you want to stay on-network you'll need to stop somewhere (probably LAS-LAX-LHR for VA number out of LAS).

Having said that, booking VA the whole way could be a lot more expensive.

If I were you, go speak to a RTW expert travel agent as this is the area they pay for themselves many times over.

I'll speak to my friendly TA as to what my best options might be.

I might look into the feasibility of a separate LAX-LAS-LAX ticket then I'd only need a direct LAX-LHR on a VA codeshare DL or VS flight.

VS offer a Direct LAS-LGW service or a DL service via MSP to LHR if chasing SC

Thanks, I had forgotten about the LGW option, I'm so used to going into London via LHR.

I'll have to see if the LAS-LGW can be booked as a VA code share flight so that I can include it as an "eligible sector" for status qualification in addition to earning status credits.

Unfortunately it won't be sold as a codeshare... the most you will get would be 4 ( SYD- LAX- LAS // LON -AUH-SYD)

Not quite. With a bit of creative ticketing then the following could be VA codes

SYD LAX
LAX LAS
LAS LAX (can be done only via a TA)
--
LHR AUH
AUH SYD

That will be 5/8 sectors for requal. However I've said it before that if you are flying like this you don't need status. If flying J and not planning on doing any other flights status is somewhat academic. (I'm at 40 sectors this year domestic Y plat, I earn my status lol)

Op, don't forget you can also use SQ too where it will fit. Personally I'm a EY fan but don't exclude them. Open mind will be what saves you money here.

I can't think of a airfare that would allow you to backtrack and use a VA coded flight on the LAS LAX sector as you suggested... Just because a flight shows it is available as a codeshare, does not indicate you can book it ... there are a number of conditions to booking it . The main 2 are INT CONX and a airfare loaded that allows such routing
