Hi,

This year I have some USA domestic flights which were purchased as V class and then upgraded them to Comfort+ during the booking process. When I log in to view the booking on Delta they reflect as class W, though the receipt reflects V class. I firmly believe they are class W as when booking on Delta now you get 3 class options (economy, comfort+,business/first) in which when I booked you had to upgrade the economy fare to get comfort+.

So I wanted to find out how many Velocity Status Credits I will earn.
According to the Velocity table, V class is discount economy. Though it states W class is only on Virgin Australia codeshares which I assume is aimed at VA metal Australia to USA.

Does anyone have any experience on what fare class Velocity will base the earn rate as?

Did this last year and the SCs were based on economy earn rate.

Unless your original fare bucket is Y,B,M (full economy SC rate) you will only be earning SC at the discount economy rate.

W will only earn premium economy SC rate if the flight is operated by VA and the seat purchased is premium economy.

Delta do not have premium economy. Economy+ is not Premium economy just same economy seat with a bit more legroom and maybe recline and other stuff.

In general SC are earned at the original ticketed fare class. Its same as buying a discount economy ticket and you pay to upgrade via upgrademe bid to business class on virgin. You will only earn at the original fare class SC earn rate.

I've discovered Delta are making changes post 16 May 2016 (and my flight is after this date) .. Delta Comfort+ Changes: What You Need To Know - One Mile at a Time

Comfort+ from this date isn't an economy ticket and has its own fare class "W".

Guess will find out post this date.

Just bear in mind that what alphabet one airline uses for a particular fare class has no bearing on what alphabet another airline uses even if they are partners. While DL has put Comfort+ into its own fare bucket and calls it W. As you said time will tell how VA will treat it. My guess its the same as economy.

Delta W fares are only credited to premium economy SC level if its a VA operated flight sold as a Delta codeshare with DL**** flight number
