Even better if you can originate in Asia, such as Singapore or Bangkok. Big savings to be had.

Yes. Really good business class fares out of BKK. Discovered thanks to tip from another AFF member.

For anyone interested ... I just booked AY Business Class BKK-HEL-CDG-BKK for just under $2,400 AUD. Using new A350 metal out of BKK. There are a couple of other very cheap destinations including CPH. HEL itself is a little more. This particular offer ends 10 Feb, so not long to go.

Compare that to Qantas you won't get much for 4000 maybe PE to London return.

So what is AY business class like.
I have only flown Qantas and Cathay

Is there a transit in HEL on the way back on your routing?

More than passable in the A340 which I flew in 2014 and looks even better in the A350. Service is good and food, while not at the QF level, is quite acceptable. IFE doesn't have the choice of the top tier airlines, but all this is more than compensated for by the pricing.

Yes I like the price.
Looking at options for Europe next year.

No complaints about the service last October, Bangkok to Heathrow, return from Barcelona via Helsinki, flight over had angled flat beds and I had someone next to me, it was a day flight so sleep wasn't that important. On the way back it was the newer layout, fully flat bed. Helsinki was a nice and easy airport to transit through, including using my 'chip' passport, however on both transits the lounge (and everywhere else) was packed.
In June we are on the 350, Bangkok to Milan return, really looking forward to that!

It's pretty good. Last time I travelled AY the seat was not fully flat, but I'm hoping the A350 might be different. Mind you, I went up to BKK last month on QF and seats weren't fully flat either.

I should also say, don't expect too much on the internal Europe flights with AY. You are down the front of the plane and that's about it. Instead of the economy section with three in a row, you have 1 0 1 layout.

That being said, the food is much better down the front!
