Hi all

I am currently QFF Gold and am thinking of going for VA Gold, whereabouts on the VA website can i find my Review Date?

Thanks

They don't have specific dates like Qantas. It's just, as soon as you hit 250SC and 2 sectors, you get Silver. Then your SC expire 12 months after earning them. So for example, if I upgrade to Gold before 17 June then I only need 80 SC to do it, but on 17 June I have 60 SC expiring, so as of 18 June I would need 140 SC to hit Gold. Does that make sense?

When you log into your account it will tell you how many SC required by xx_ date to get Y status. That is when the account is reviewed. If you can make the required SC by that date then the dates probably change.

So the Status Credits have a rolling 12 mth expiry?

ie. A status credit earnt on a flight on Feb 28 2016 will expire on Feb 28 2017 but status credits earnt on a flight on March 1st 2016 will expire on March 1st 2017

So no concept of an "earn year" like Qantas?

Sort of. On opening a velocity account, you have a review date as 1 calendar year down the track (this date is also printed on your card).

If, within that 12 months, you reach enough SCs to earn silver (250 SCs), your review date will change to whatever date on which you reached silver and you will then have 12 months from then, to firstly earn 200SCs to renew your silver status but also to reach 500 SCs to earn gold. At gold, your review date will change again to the date you reached gold. At that point you have 12 more months to earn 400 SCs to renew gold and if you continue to reach 1000SCs before that third review date, you'll be upgraded to platinum and your review date will change again to the date you reached platinum. At that point, you have a further 12 months to reach platinum renewal at 800SCs and if you continue to earn SCs within that 12 months, all you can do with them is gift status to someone.....at 1300 you can gift gold and at 1800 you can gift platinum.

So my car d has Member Since12/10 on it

So I have until December 2016 to reach Gold

Now to clarify if I earn 500SC between now and Dec 2016 I will attain Gold?

It isn't that I reach 250 and then reset back to zero and then earn another 500 to get Gold?

Although all my travel is business (self funded) I only have an ABN not ASIC so don't think I am eligible

When you reach 250SCs, your review date will change to that date, but every status credit will have a 12 month expiration from the date it was earned. So status credits are rolling off the end of their 12 month lifespan independently of the review date. The only real way of ascertaining when you will reach 500 for gold, is to look at your future flying bookings and get the date you'll surpass 500 and then look at your past history (in your VA account) and deduct any that might expire before you reach 500. Sorry if this news is not what you hoped for, but if you have no status credits expiring before Dec, then you'll be right to earn just the 500.
