I have been stung really really badly:

Moved some points from VA to SQ at 1 SQ to 1.35 VA points. I read this "The conversion rate of 1.35 Velocity Points to 1.00 KrisFlyer Miles will be available both ways when converting from Velocity Points to KrisFlyer Miles or vice versa." (https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/ProgramBenefits/LatestNews/va-singapore-conversion/)

Now I want to move some back and I am being hit the other way - 1.35 SQ miles to 1 VA point! (
https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/ppsclub-krisflyer/passion-tapformore/miles-conversion/)

So you cannot move them between programs seamlessly. I have lost 70% of the value!

It's been that way from the start, but IMHO that page is wrong in the footnote, so you may have a case to say VFF misinformed you. They should be told their page is wrong, at least!

Exactly that - I will be taking it up with VA on Monday. Rather annoyed as I moved over 500k points from VA to SQ.....needed some back in VA this morning.

The footnote at the bottom is totally wrong then.

I'm of the opinion that you should leave the points in the program where you have earned them and only transfer them when you need redeem or top-up the points in the other program to make up a shortfall for redeeming an award.

OK thats fine - however the VA website clearly implies you can move the points between the 2 programs for no penalty and this appears to be clearly not the case.

I read that it's the same both way ie 1.35 Velocity to 1 Krisflyer and 1.35 Krisflyer to 1 Velocity.

I don't think it's misleading at all, especially when it say vice versa only a few words further in the sentence

That clearly says the conversion rate is 1.35 Velocity points equals 1 Krisflyer mile - in both directions. That means that 1 Krisflyer mile has to get 1.35 velocity points when going in that direction.

Otherwise the conversion is 1.35 Velocity points to 1 krisflyer mile in the direction Velocity to Krisflyer
or
0.74 Velocity points to 1 Krisflyer point in the direction Krisflyer to Velocity, which is not the same rate.

Conversion rate of 1.35 Velocity points to 1.00 Krisflyer points both ways to me reads that the conversion rate of 1.35:1.00 applies both ways not the fact that 1 krisflyer transferred back equates to 1.35 velocity points, otherwise there is no penalty for switching points between accounts, which just doesn't make sense. This is why points earnt in a program are better left there until required.

From SQ website
" 3. ConvertGo to 'Miles' - 'How to Use' and select 'Virgin Australia - Velocity' under Other redemption options. Enter the number of Miles you would like to convert to Velocity Points, or the number of Velocity Points you would like to receive.

For every 1.35 KrisFlyer Miles converted, KrisFlyer members will receive 1 Velocity Point which will be credited directly into your Velocity Frequent Flyer Account.
A minimum of 5,000 KrisFlyer Miles is required for each conversion.
Please note that all Miles converted cannot be reversed."

From Velocity website:

"Transfer your Velocity Points to KrisFlyer Miles

You can transfer Points from your Velocity Account to your KrisFlyer Account, the loyalty program of Singapore Airlines.

Note: You may also transfer your KrisFlyer Miles to your Velocity Account by logging in to your KrisFlyer Account.

For every 1.35 Velocity Points you transfer, you will earn 1 KrisFlyer Mile.

To calculate the number of KrisFlyer Miles you will receive for the number of Velocity Points you wish to transfer, please use the Conversion Tool below."

We can agree to disagree on this but I can't see how there's is any confusion and I can't see VA giving in on this

It comes down to how you interpret it. I interpret as conversion of 1.35:1 available both way and not 1 KrisFlyer equals 1.35 velocity.

Would be interested to see what response from VA would be, I just can't see this going in the ops favour when everything is so clear
