Hi all,

Apologies if this is not posted in the correct forum as I wasn't sure!

We are travelling to Sydney in September and will be using our AMEX free flight and upgrading to Business. We will each have a babe in arms so looking at travelling when business class is relatively quiet to (a) avoid annoying other business class passengers (b) hopefully get 2 seats each to ourselves so we can actually eat (can be difficult otherwise!) and (c) avoid having someone sitting next to our newborn baby (will be 5-6 weeks old!).

So my question: If travelling on a Tuesday (20 Sep), which flight is ordinarily less busy for SYD-ADL - the 4.10pm (VA 428), 6.10pm (VA 436) or 8.10pm (VA 444)? So far looks like the 4.10pm and 8.10pm both have 2 seats sold (showing 6 fares left which I am assuming means 2 have sold) but its obviously still quite far out.

I travelled on Virgin last year with the little man in Business from ADL-CBR and was lucky enough to have to be the only traveller in business - it was definitely much more relaxing for me than Qantas which was almost full (although luckily he slept that entire flight and the FA moved the lady next to me to the only spare seat so I could eat more easily).

TIA!

I should mention also ideally I would like to travel on the 6.10pm but if this is ordinarily the busiest will look to avoid it...

At this stage it appears that possibly one J seat has been sold on the 16:10 and 20:10 services respectively, and that no seats in J have been sold on the 18:10 service. Note that the "six remaining seats" message on the first two flights that you mentioned refers to seats at that price - not necessarily seats in total.

At this stage it's impossible to predict that much from that information. I had a look at loadings for flights over the next two weeks, and while there was a tendency for the 16:10 flight to have the fullest J cabins, there was no strong pattern.

I would just go with the 18:10 flight if that's your preferred option. At least you should get a proper meal on that flight as it falls within dinner hours.

Thanks Matt. I assumed it would be difficult to ascertain for 6 months time so the loadings over the next 2 weeks offer a great insight, exactly what I was looking for. And agreed - the 18:10 is definitely better off meal wise, and as it will suit us better seems the best way to go, especially if 16:10 tends to be busier in any case.

Sorry, sidebar question- can you upgrade the Amex free flight to J?
