Hi All. First time poster - so hopefully this is not a stupid question.

On the Virgin website VA7 on April 9th, is showing all sold out for Business Class.
On the Expert Flyer site, its showing 10 seats available.
Also.. since it has been showing sold out, I was also able to put in an UpgradeMe Bid.

I was keeping a close eye on the flight - and according to the VA website, it went from 10 seats available to sold out overnight. Of course, maybe it was a group booking, or the seats are being held?

But... is it actually sold out?

Hi, welcome to the site, I am a newbie too and have always found the people here are really knowledgeable and friendly. I have experienced the same issue many times and all I can think of, is that they move and shake the seats around according to online interest. I watched J class reward seats disappear before my eyes and couldn't explain it as no seats in the cabin were actually booked - it remained empty. I think you should monitor your flight often and maybe there will be a cancellation last minute. I do know that seats magically appear at T-24......

Welcome to AFF :)

The flight does appear to be sold out in Business class. I can't see any J seats on Expert Flyer, nor on the VA website. In fact, the flight seems to be very full in all classes. Must be a popular day to fly! But you never know, things might change as people cancel/change flights/etc.

Did you do a seat map or a flight availability search? The flight availability search shows no seats left in J. The seat map is not necessarily an indicator of seats remaining for sale, as some passengers may not have selected a seat yet.

If you are looking at a seat map - it just means that people haven't actually selected a seat. It doesn't mean that they are not sold.

That weekend is the start of school holidays in NSW and WA, so maybe that's a contributing factor?

That would be very likely. I noticed the VA1 SYD-LAX flight is also pretty full that day.

Not a Business seat to be had - even the DL flight is sold out in business:

A couple of weeks ago, husband and daughter flew VA1 SYD-LAX. The flight was not full, but seats from Row 20 -30 were "sold" or unavailable online. I know Status helps at this point, but he was only Silver at the time. The day before they flew - bingo! The whole area behind PE opened up. Same for J cabin.

OK... so riddle me this. My search today on the Virgin website, is showing availability again. It's saying 5 fares available.. but still looks like 10 to me (but again, maybe thats seat availability?).

What day's flight? Today?

April 9. Same as the in the OP

We're on page 2 ...

Expert Flyer shows me J5 C0 from BNE-LAX however if I try SYD-LAX I see J5 C2 for the VA 07 sector.
If I try MEL-BNE-LAX then what I see depends on the MEL-BNE connection. Either J0 C0 or J1 C0 or J6 C4 or even J7 C6.

So I would say there are at least 7 seats for sale in business on VA07 on 9 April 2016.
