Just want to make this simple and clear. I already HAVE seat taken for my full flights. No need help with that unless i ask to. MEL already explained it to me why there was invisible occupied seats already. He/she clearly explanined it so lets not get confused please.

Now anyone is very welcome to participate if you have a very similar question in regards to those occupied seats in your own experience. Im only just reading as time goes by.

I was ONLY just telling you WHY on the last preview flight qantas didnt aloud me to select seats and even yet i requested window but never gotten a window. Now do you know why ? Was it because i paid the tickets with flight center? Because by all means now that i booked this NEW bookings online by myself.. I am not having that issue and i can select seats on qantas. So tell me. Why preview trip i made wasn't the same ? Qantas on my last trip ive made didnt alouded me to select seats and the select a window request wasnt helpful at all i end up seated in the middle of people. So why was that? Why is it that now i can oh tho i booked this online online this time instead of flight center. Is it that flight center takes out the things i can and not do because they really want to control my travel needs its why i paid them to do it for me ? Now thats something i would like to know.

Im quite happy with what i have now. This trip im going to make i have NO issues. I have YES seats choosen and no problem what so ever online. Its only the fuzz that last trip i made qantas leaded me really angry because even tho i wasnt able to request seats not even qantas flight center or anyone able to help me then and 24hours before departure. There for i will never do travel bookings with flight center. Its strange you see because this time i booked online i can now select qantas seats.. But why not preview trip. Why not ?

I will ask MEL here just in case.

By the way please dont ask me about the seats multiple times as my next trip that is going to happen has already seats choosen by me. Im fine with that thank you.

MEL: My last trip ive made the very same trip. Qantas didnt aloud me to select a seat. even i called many times they could not help. Not even flight center. That booking was made with flight center. I paid a lot of money for 1 adult. Very disapojtiend qantas didnt alud me to select a seat. Even i request i want window at least. But by the time i printed out my tickets it shows i was going to be seated in the middle without the window. So why bother requesting a window. If i cant select a seat then why not request window and get a window seat somewhere at least. Which never happened. The only who cared was finnair who i was able to select seats without a drama.

Now this time im going back to europe again and already paid for this very same trip. This time i booked it online without the help of flight center. This time i was able to select qantas seats without a drama the outbound and the one comming back. So as you can see why my last trip preview trip i made was diferent ? the trip and time and everything is the very same as what im just about to go. oh tho cheaper for 2 people booked online. Flgiht center made me pay as if i was to have 2 people with me. Very expensive with flight center. They all full of bull how ever young people say it know days.

But im just simply curiosity why last trip qantas didnt aloud me to select seats and this trip i made online seems i can select seats on qantas... And for a fact i paid much less online then what i bloody paid at flight center for just 1 adult which i paid more then almost 8.000 dollars for just 1 adult. The so what flight center been the cheapest place to go.. Not so true after all.

But im curiosity i wont repeat this one next time just want to find out the simple question at it.

Thanks
barbra

You should be asking Flight Centre why they didn't select seats for you on your last trip. IMHO they went cha Ching with your booking and provided minimal to no service.

Aim your frustration at them and not Qantas.

I well an truely did that and they got quite buggered of me for repeating it. They say you see its complicated your travel thing so on. How could it be that complicated. They just wont say it. Qantas couldnt help. Flight center was useless and even at the airport on the day of tavel couldnt help because by the time i got there all seats are taken and i was only to remain seated in a dreadful seat in the middle between crying babys without a window at least. I dont no who to blame on the last trip i made. But i beleive flight center takes the ltitle things like that so that they make it sound as if they are the one controling things and now you do what flight center says because i paid them to do the booking on that last trip. just very annoyed about flight center 8 horus hearing crying babys that almost hurted my ears thru the hearing aid.. As i have a old model of it. And it wasn't pleasant you see. So somthing didnt make scene there. I wish i knew why.

Strange enough the trip im going soon i have seats with qantas and can select and change hen i want when i want to. No drama this time. Maybe flight center takes the things so i cant do much about freedom with my booking. Im sure. But nevemrind that was the past. I have a new trip and im very happy with what i have this time because i made this booking online from home by all means.

I don't know. It might be that all the available seats had been taken last time you flew. If that is the case, you can only ask for a window or aisle, and even then, you only get what is left.

The important thing is that this time you have organised everything. And now you know how to organise these flights for yourself, so you won't need to go to flight centre again.

It's unfortunate that those with a wealth of knowledge have treated this thread with distain - because they were never a beginner in the FF scene. The fun is now over, the crowd can disperse as I'm sure you answered barbra's queries before you went off on your tangents.

Any further comments off topic will be dealt with in the usual manner.

I have never used a TA, and probably never will, but then again my itineraries are never complex.

For simple itineraries, I can see no advantage in using a TA, just disadvantages. There's so much to digest on AFF of course. ;)

Edit: This is not a criticism of any member, just my thoughts, and apologies if a bit OT.

Thanks but thats odd because i booked that flight last time whcih was 8 months before travel. The plane could of not suddently be packed. I think flight center has secrets. If you deal with them they going to take most things off you just so you dont run away so easily there for you paid them to do things. In my case i have a horrible feeling about flight center for some reason. Who knows most of them say its complicated i think they all a lier or that qantas was upset because i went with finnair. Nevermind. All good.

I suppose the theory on that will be unknown.Qantas doesnt no and flight center useless and finnair wouldnt no because they are finnair. Someone blocked that brivilage for me. I believe it is or was coming from flight center. I wont dealt with them ever again unless its urgent.

Thanks i suppose to answer that question is still unknown but i last trip paid well in advance at least 8 months before travel.

It almost feels like the last trip ive made flight center untick the things so i get less brivilages to do things like choose qantas seat or this or that. I think they have secrets in which they usually do tat to anyone. I wont bother with them flight center. One they say you see your flight is a complicated because its finnair. The other says a different story. Just very odd really.

But anyhow that was the past and now i have my new travel coming up i can select and change qantas seat without any drama. And at least ive learn how to online thanks to some great people in the forum

That is all thanks
Barbra

No the answers were seemingly given often by different people and in different threads. There might be a pattern or it could be genuine inquiries. Some decided, including me, that it was a not a coincidence.

You misunderstand. I meant the OP is pursuing a conspiracy line where Flight Centre, Qantas et al keep things hidden from her. I was certainly not proposing that any of the those who responded were deliberately withholding information, quite the opposite.

I dont like to blame companies or qantas or so on. Just that the only conclusion is. WHY wasn't i aloud to pick and choose a economy seat. At least i could request a window but then again with well planned.. i end up never at a window seat regardless. You say i paid cheaper at flight center ? i paid almsot as if it was mean to be for 2 adults in one booking. I would not call that cheap.

It does feel as tho flight center has this thing where they untick things in order to take the (brivilage) so i dont get to choose a seat because they more likely got sick of me hours there with them arguing winding about prices as she found some but then scrapped off iw asnt happy please find what you find right now.. and it was almost time to close the store. So i kept her there a good 15min more. Maybe she got some what pissed off at me and made me end up getting the no chance of seats.

I did told her before i paid i want and a must want seats what so ever. I mean why would someone not aloud me choose seats... I dont no what the system works.. Maybe for them it was cheap price and cheap price wont aloud you to choose seats on qantas. I dont no.

Unfortunally i wasnt happy on that plane brisbane to singapore. It just felt horrible. Only because if at least i could of choosen a seat. Most of them said becuase your booking is code share with finnair. I say to myself what does THAT have anything to do with code share even tho i should still aloud to pick a seat on qantas in the first place.

But you tell me! Why did they not aloud me ? They say your booking is finniar or complicated...

And yet i booked the very same trip online this year for my next trip coming up and some how i do get to choose qantas seat without any issues and dramas.. Maybe flight center has too much bull up the sleeves or that they do this just so they can be mroe in control of your booking i suppose. I dont no. But it seems unusual. But its the past so i wouldnt worry too much anymore.

And its interesting most pople here dont no the answer i guess it is stuff to do with flight center behind those computers. They can do anything they want. Almost like saying they can tick or untick things without you knwing in order to yet have you with them so you dont take the full brivilage of everything on that flght. I dont think its any complicated or because its code share. That makes no diferents. One should at least still get the chance to select a seat. But wasnt like that on the last trip. But oh well even tho qantas seats was dreadfull. In fact all seats looks the same to me.

I did went to flight center number of times to tell her and the workers why am i not aloud to choose seat they go quiet and start looking at my booking even most of them says they dont really no they reckon because your booking is under finnair and theres a mix and match sort of thing. Qantas over the phone will not help last time they say because you booked it with flight center and they are mainly all finnair. I call finnair they cant helped because i had to call QANTAS for the seats for that particular thing i was after. As you can see it would had to be some sort of complicational situation so on. But i wouldnt worry much anymore. Once that was the past trip.

But at least give people a fare go for selecting seats. Because look how i booked this travel online and NOW i see i can select qantas seats. Interesting. perhaps i should not even trust flight center after all. Plus they very expensive by all means too.

I came up with that discussion included. Oh tho wasn't meant to be this way but
anyhow all good i suppose. I was just curious about something but as you understood i wont ask again.

Nevermind i first have to thanks MEL and others for the help before today and yesturday.

I don't know the answer to the OPs question. Personally, I never did, and still don't understand why the long haul flights seats are occupied in an unusual way. It's just all down to the secret stuff airlines do behind the scenes. But I don't think I've ever seen a seat map like those posted and thought "that's unusual". Other than saying that's just the way it is, I"m not sure what insight any AFF member could possibly add that would satisfy the OP's question.

I certainly don't feel distain for the OP's question. It is just one of those imponderable airline things, like what are my chances to get an upgrade of XYZ flight. The OP might as well have asked how long is a piece of string. "We don't know, it just is" doesn't seem like a helpful answer or one the OP wants to hear. Nevertheless, that answer is no more or less helpful that some of the other answers provided in thread.

Having read along to most of these threads, it does seem to be a touch [can't think of the word] by all parties involved. Glad I can skim read it all.

Well true. It is (unusual) like ive stated. Look at the pictures for finnair the first pictures you see is finnair. It's set up in a unusual way horizontal ocupied seats. Then look at the Qantas images its not as much unusual for when you look at it on the map.

Only the finnair seems unusual in a odd way ocupied seats in a horinzontal position. Maybe perhaps it is the way they do things. I wouldn't no and don't think ive ever seen anything like that. Normally i would see just what qantas does all ocupied seats at the very far end of the group of on economy.
Like i said your looking at finnair it is in a unusual position how them seats are ocupied.

And as if you look at qantas seat map which is this one below:

seats seems more understanding all in one lanes all occupied rather then horizontal positions
