Virgin website says 5 points for every dollar spent flying domestically, but do we earn points on the actual mileage? Have paid with a Velocity prepaid visa, so pretty happy with the points churn, but am not sure if I am overthinking the expectation of just how many points our 4 return SYD-AYQ flights will generate.
Any advice?

I assume you are talking about a virgin holiday? If so 5 points per dollar, but no points on mileage.

No, not a holiday. We just booked 4 return flights via the website and then I went to Velocity to see how many points those flights generated. I may have been looking in the wrong place, I can find international earns but no domestic chart.

Flights earn 5 points per dollar. that's it $100 fare = 500 points.
Earning is not based on milage for domestic flights.

Thanks, that's cool anyway, because it cost $1400 for the flights, which amounts to roughly 7000 points. PLUS, we get a 75% bonus, which adds an extra 5250 PLUS we paid with our Global Wallet card, which adds another 700ish......and the hotel near Ayres Rock is offering triple Velocity points per dollar spent! I reckon that little trip just netted us over 15,950 points...........not too shabby.

All up, I'm pretty happy. Not to mention we are flying to a bucket list destination.

Thanks everyone for your input and knowledge :)
