To YYZ - From LAX or SFO?

Travelling on AA domestic to YYZ and have the choice of departing from LAX or SFO. Which would you choose given the following:

- Both on award tickets in F connecting through ORD
- LAX would be on A321 while SFO would be on 738.
- Both are late night departures just before midnight.

Things to take into account would be lounge offerings at each airport as well as the actual on-board product.

Thoughts?

Depends on your status (level and program).

First with such an itinerary on AA does not in itself convey any lounge access.

However, non AA oneworld sapphires and emeralds get access.

If so Emerald, take LAX and use the flagship lounge or the TBIT Qantas First lounge. If Sapphire then SFO.

Note the Flagship lounge closes after 11pm.

No status so no lounge then. So I guess it comes down to the onbord product. Any opinions on which will be better?

Is it an ex-US or ex-AA A321? The two are quite different.

No idea. If someone can check it would be AA1460 on 24 August. AA website just says A321 Sharklets.

It's an AA A321 so I'd rank them AA A321 (LAX) > AA B738 (SFO). Much of a muchness though - it's only a 4 hour flight to ORD.

Just one more question, reading the AA lounge access rules would it be correct that I would have access if I were to route through JFK instead of ORD?

Correct but it's much harder to get award availability on the transcons.
